Anyone have any experience with ASF Smokers? I am looking at the 20" Oven Up.

Nothing to add other than heb runs 20% off sales from time to time on their smokers. Now if they have that model at your heb when they have the sale is a bit of a crap shoot.

It's nice to be sure. Looks like a basic smoker. For that money, I want 1/4" thick though. Thats also why I tend to lean toward used on Facebook. You can get a smoker twice that size and thicker for half the price. Not that that is what you asked but just FYI.

Thanks. I don't mind getting better for half the price, that is for sure. I just don't want to spend custom level money since I am not sure the stick burning will will take on me. I am used to electric and wood chips.

I have found that I have different tastes for different things. So, I have a stick burner but it's used a few times a year. I have the blackstone that is probably used most often. A primo for most everything else. And I have a Paella setup.

It really depends on what you like to make and cook. I love cooking outside so it's all good.

But I feel like if you buy a used GOOD quality smoker, you can easily get your money back if you don't like it. I feel like a 1500 ASF instantly becomes a 900 smoker on the used market whereas if you'd paid 800 for it, you could get it back out if that makes sense.

I do not own pellet smokers so I don't know what I'm missing. I don't have a gas system anymore but I don't miss the quick fire up or time saving. For me, if I need something cooked fast, I'll make it in a pan or oven. Otherwise, I try to enjoy the cook.

you aren't missing anything with a pellet grill. I don't like ours much at all.

I got an ASF grill from my dad when he passed three years ago. The bottom was rusted out but I know for a fact it was out in the weather and most likely had ash left in there at some point.

I believe it was 4 or 5 years old when I got it.

I was looking at the same smoker for awhile. But once I was able to touch and feel an ASF smoker with the light gauge metal, I decided to go with the Old Country Gravity Smoker instead. Less money and also light gauge metal, but insulated and super easy temp and fire control.
