I'd say 7.5-8.5 years old but I'd need to look at my replica jaws we use for aging to be sure. That type of wear across ALL teeth is usually something not seen until they're really old.
Based on my tooth wear plaque on the wall, at least 8.5.

PS: I sure do miss hunting in Refugio county. I hunted there for 15 years. Pretty much my entire childhood of hunting was spent in Refugio and Woodsboro. I learned so much.

Biggest free range deer I have ever seen was on a big ranch just SW of Woodsboro. Probably a 175-180" mainframe 10 that I should have shot but I was a guest. Apparently they had been chasing him for a while and several guys had hunted all season looking for him. To make matters worse, the guy that picked me up, who was on the lease, gave me **** for not shooting it… sucks being honest sometimes.
I asked just for my personal knowledge.
This place is a small but neat property that fronts the bay.
It isn't hunted by many people, but the people who do hunt it aren't the most experienced hunters and don't care about shooting young deer. I actually passed on a very nice young 8 pt out there earlier this season and was kind of kicking myself thinking it'll prob get shot anyway. I was fortunate enough to receive another invite and ended up shooting this much nicer deer. Also that younger 8 I believe made it and is still out there doing his thing.
On that prior hunt I talked myself in-and-out of shooting that young 8 half a dozen times. Beautiful 8 with tall brow tines. He didn't stay very long and about 30 minutes after he left I started having major regrets about not taking him. Even though the rut was supposed to be over I threw a hail marry and let out a doe bleat call. I figured he was long gone but he popped right back out, and AGAIN talked myself out of shooting him lol. Then unexpectedly got another invite and took this deer yesterday. Glad it all worked out how it did.

You're a good guest. If they were after him and wanted you to take home they should have told you. When we had our ranch we made it clear to shoot which deer which also included some old ones.
