How long do you want to ignore this user?
My brother in law got me a Summit Solo Stove smokeless fire pit for Christmas. I've been out of town since Christmas and haven't been able to open or play with it.

Anyone on the OB have one? Any cool set ups for it that I should be looking into?

my brother in law has one that was use when we camp. very useful… you kinda need to give it some time to get some good coals going so it radiates heat. they are very cool, though!

They make a good, relatively smokeless fire. They don't put off a ton of heat though. I believe they sell a heat deflector though that helps with that.

We got one last Christmas and it's a perfect fire pit solution for the suburbs. The kids love making s'mores.

I got the Bonfire bundle for Christmas last year and have loved it.

I have one of the original models...works great as long as you keep the fuel below the aeration holes circling the top and keep the ash cleaned out of the base.

We have a concrete patio. What do we need to put underneath for protection?

we have had zero issues putting it directly on concrete.

Mine came with a stand that raises it off the ground 2-3 inches.

With the short stand we have used ours on the grass and it doesn't do any damage to the grass.

The heat deflector is a must for colder weather. We have enjoyed our Solo for a few years now.

Love my Solo Stoves. I have two; one I keep at the ranch and a smaller (Ranger) I use for camping. They burn clean and reduce smoke, which makes sitting around the campfire a joy.

We have a cast iron wok/discada topper that works great for breakfast tacos, stir fries at a campsite.

This, plus you have to mind the fire level (not too low, not too high). It requires a lot of wood to burn hot enough to remain smokeless. I put it on pavers but have never seen heat damage to them. Still recommend for folks who like a campfire without the smoke.

have a big pit up at the land and solo stove at home in the burbs- i think it's the yukon model solo stove. the solo is good for how it's advertised. doesn't get too smokey!

x100000 on the heat deflector
had ours for several years now and we quickly learned it will burn hot and have to feed it...but the heat goes straight up. got the heat deflector for year 2 and it made a really nice difference

My neighbor fired up his smudge pot the other night it was fantastic. He also owns a solo stove but prefers the smudge

that thing looks pretty cool....although not sure you can pack it up and store in garage or whatnot

does he break it down for easy storage/transport? or once assembled it is what it is?

I didn't see if it broke down or not. ETA The video on their site shows the flue comes off just above the return pipe

Neighbor said it burns motor oil, cooking oil, kerosene or anything similar. He used a small propane bottle with a pear burner attached to ignite it and said get the upgraded version 2.0 if I bought one.

My dad has one that he burns on a wooden deck with some kind of mat they sell. We used it when we went up to do Christmas at his house the weekend before and I enjoyed it. The heat deflector is needed, otherwise, you get some heat, but most just goes up like a fireplace.

Once the fire gets going, you'll see the flames rolling out of the holes at the top. I'd love to have one, but I'm cheap and not spending that. My little propane fire pit does just fine given the number of times we use it.

My only problem with it is, I love the smell of oak smoke and waking up after a camp fire and smelling like oak smoke for the next 3 days. The solo makes it where you don't smell the smoke.
