A few years ago, I started sharing some of my essays here, and your feedback, comments, and encouragement helped motivate me to put a collection of them into a book.

For those who are interested, here is the link to both a paperback and a Kindle edition - free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GF3B6VJ8

If you haven't seen any of the ones I posted and want a sample of what is in the book, you can search under my profile and find several.

Whether you buy the book or not, Amazon's algorithm really doesn't do anything for books until they start getting reviews...so even if you just read the essays here on TexAgs, you can leave a review, and it would help me out a ton.

If you have any other advice on promoting a book, I'm all ears - this is new territory for me.

And if none of the above applies to you, thanks for letting me and my essays be a part of the Outdoor board community.

Congrats on being published. I look forward to reading the collection.

I have no experience in promoting a book, but I would consider contacting/sending a copy to Michael Berry at KTRH. I think he would enjoy reading it and might want to interview you on air....

Glad to finally see this. Wish it had been in time for Christmas, but I guess I have birthday gifts for my 4 daughters figured out now.

I love your writing style using everyday language in a way that everyone can understand but still arranged in such a way to make your words convey complex ideas and still remind us it is sometimes the simple things that are the most important.

It is apparent that God has gifted you with wisdom beyond any average person. I am glad to see it being put to a use that shows other people the love God has for all of us and that we should all seek to follow his lead.

May this book be a blessing to all who read it.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to know that others find my stories worthwhile and gift-giving worthy.

As for wisdom - a wise man would have learned these lessons a lot faster and without all the bruises!

But certainly the being blessed part is correct...including the TexAgs community.

My book editor suggested I celebrate publishing day with a 12-year-old malt.

Alex suggested an alternative, so instead I celebrated with an (almost) 12-year-old and chocolate malt.

Greatly appreciate all of you - thanks!

How do you think a wise man gets that way? It is only because of the bruises.

Book came in today. Sat down and immediately read the 0 chapter and the first 2 chapters aloud to my wife. Dont ask me why, but she like me reading to her.

Though the first chapter was a tough read, they were very enjoyable. Made us both, er, emotional. My wife lost her son just shy of his second birthday. She doesnt like talking about the aftermath but stuff like Chapter 1, helps her appreciate and reminisce the joy rather than the pain. Second chapter was a nice palette clense. Thank you for sharing.

Not that my opinion means diddly squat, but I like the way it is set up - much like a James Herriot book. I read all his stuff as a kid.

Thank you for sharing that. That makes all the work and the whole project worthwhile.

Chapter 1 is the toughest emotional read in the book and I debated putting it as Chapter 1 because I didn't want the book to be seen as just a bereavement book. Still, it made sense to me to tackle it head on and it certainly shaped my fatherhood journey for both awful and better.

While the book isn't solely focused on bereavement, I do hope the lessons I learned are beneficial to all parents. And for those parents who are in the "bereaved club", I hope it connects with and comforts them in some small way.

Chapter 3 is even more of palate cleanse and many more essays don't address child-loss at all...so hopefully you find plenty of chuckles, too.

And your opinion and feedback mean lots more than diddly squat to me. I told my wife for years that no one outside of our family and friends would be interested in my stories, so hearing feedback from others means a lot.

So to you and others - any thoughts you have (good or bad) is greatly appreciated!
