Montgomery County. Google Image Search says Striped Bark Scorpion. Seems to check out.

I'm usually a catch and release guy with wildlife (especially snakes), but with scorpions? Burn it with fire? Or let it go because it eats something else more annoying?

If they are found inside I burn the house down. If they are found outside I let them go.

Nothing like sticking your foot in your boot first thing in the morning to find a scorpion in there.

I have no compassion for insects that sting, bite or cause pain.

Compassion has little to do with it. I tolerate if I benefit somehow, someway. If it's at the bottom of the food chain and serves no purpose but to cause me or the kids temporary discomfort….. it's gone.

Kill it. Kill them all. I also am a catch & releaser for snakes, spiders, etc I find in my house. Scorpions though? Nope. Found one today under a T-shirt my daughter left on the floor. Nope nope nope.

Kill em all.

Woke up one night to an awful burning feeling between my toes. Yep, scorpion under the covers with me.

Dealt with these on a fairly regular basis in our previous house west of Austin. Definitely the worst sting I have ever experienced from an insect. The only good thing about them is they are so easy to catch. My preferred method was long needle nosed pliers to pick them up by the tail, bring them outside and then step on them. New house, we exchanged scorpions for the occasional roach. Much harder to catch and I find them way more disgusting. May actually prefer scorpions, assuming no one is getting tagged.

I had a cocker spaniel that I had accidentally trained to find scorpions in the house. I had given her a treat after she had gotten stung once. She would go around the house, find a scorpion, and then growl at it until she got a treat. One evening, she found three scorpions in the house. I bet she found 40+ over a four year period.

She also liked to drink beer!

Yep, that is your basic scorpion. Had them in our house all the time growing up in NB. Every now and then one would drop onto my bed from the light fixture above. That wakes you up.

Would trade an occasional scorpion sting for no roaches any day of the week. My wife, not so much. If my grandkids get stung, also a no for me. I hate roaches.

I hear you. I'll climb in bed with a recluse and/or scorpion as a fair trade for no roaches. This dude cannot abide roaches. It's not rationale, but those things terrify me.

When we were kids we used to cut off the stinger and then let them crawl on our arms........scared the H out of Mom the first time........after that it was "They are your boys not mine" from her to Pop.

I used to catch those things as a kid. Just pick em up by the tail and thrown em in a cup or break off their stinger. More annoying than anything.

I had one sting me on the back of the neck. I was sleeping and felt something burning. I jump up trying to get my shirt off and it hits me again in nearly the same spot.

that thing hurt like hell. Based on what people say, some people really react to their stings and others not so much. I guess I'm the lucky one that does.

We get them in the house a bit. I had crawl across my chest in bed one night. I didn't realize what it was so I just flicked it to the wife's side but it came back and when I realized what it was it looked like a three stooges skit in our bedroom trying to figure out where the hell it went. Our GS/Pyrenees mix can smell them. She hunts them down and barks. She circles it and keeps others away until we smush it. She can be in the living room and jump up and run 30' away and go wild over one she saw or smelled or whatever. It's awesome.

I'm a big reactor. Got tagged while working an outdoor job during HS summer. Moving rocks around to line a path and one had a nice thumb hole for easy pick up. SOB was in there and got my thumb. Hand swelled up like a a blown up rubber glove and I was pretty sick for a few days.

I did still have the ability to withstand the raging immediate pain to smash that f'er.

Same thing happened with our Shiba Inu. Now he is the great and proud Scorpion hunter of the house.

Stripes bark scorpion, common in the eastern 2/3 of Texas. Doesn't get very large. Painful sting, like hot electric pain. Comes and goes or throbs. Affects different people differently. Ice numbs the pain almost instantly but then it begins to hurt from the cold, and the pain returns as the tissue warms up.

Extremely rare for a serious health threat unless there is a systemic allergic reaction.

I kill them inside the house but let them go outside as they are good at minimizing other pests.

We have a collie that does the same. She will find one and has a specific bark that is alerting she found a scorpion.

I grew up in the Valley in the 70s and 80s. Lots of palm trees. Lots of huge roaches. Many a night woke up with them crawling on me, turning on the light and seeing them run over my toothbrush, opening a cabinet door and seeing them scurry over plates, pots, etc.

Terrified of them...

Also, if you ever go to someone's home, if they store their cups upside down, you know they probably grew up poor or at best they lived in an area with bug problems. To this day, I still store them upside down. Even had to have a discussion with my wife that glasses must be stored upside down.

My wife and I lived on our family ranch many years with an abundance of rattlesnakes and scorpions. Periodically one of us would get stung while sleeping in our bed. We became admittedly very paranoid about "things" crawling on us in the dark. One night I wake up and feel something crawling inside my underwear on my right butt cheek. I was awake enough to know not to move and think about how to get out of this predicament. I came up with a winning plan. I decided to grab him with my thumb and forefinger and squeeze him to death before he could light my butt on fire. Probably the worst idea of my 80 years on this earth. Now I had a real problem. He was mad and was seeing how many times he could stick his ice pick in my butt.I jumped out of bed, turned my light on while taking what seemed like several minutes to get my underwear off. He lands on the floor and starts taking victory lays around my feet. I use a book on my nightstand and beat the ever living hell out of him screaming at him. My sweet wife lifts her head up and asks "Is everything ok?" No! I was having nightmare about being branded by herd of calves!

Yes! I had on inside my neoprene wader boot and I was belly high in the bay about 100 yds from the boat. That was fun...

Scorpions don't bother me much. I find their stings to be milder than red wasps and scorpions don't come after you on purpose like wasps do. That said, they do freak me out when you can see them crawling across the ceiling.

I had one get me pretty good, face was tigling and tongue was numb (see my post just above). I found it was much more painful than a wasp and the venom had more effect. That said, the little demon hit me more times than I could count.

The google gave me the impression that they were comparable. Though well known that individuals may react differently to either. Been stung by a lot of Wasps, never by a scorpion (knock on wood)

Can't stand em and I kill them on sight. The population can get away from you so no catch and release.

As others have stated, it's common to cut the stinger off and throw on someone. Particularly among the Hispanic guys I was around growing up while working at my grandfather's steel fab shop in San Antone.

Lastly- I believe cats can hear them. On numerous occasions, I've seen a house cat zero in on them and target them for killing. Either smell or sound. Glad for it.
