I want to get the barrel on my 7 mag threaded so I can use my Scythe-TI suppressor on it next season. Where would y'all take your gun to get the barrel threaded in the general Houston area?

My experience going local is it takes forever and not sure it is done right. If you want to know it is done right and fast I would remove the trigger, bolt and all the parts and ship it to Kampfeld customs in idaho. The round tube mailers work great with all the parts removed. He will also provide thread protector for small fee and finish will look like it is original and fast turn around.

I'm sure your friend is fine, but I have a hard time imagining that no machinists or gunsmiths in Houston are able to operate a lathe, indicate in a part, and thread a barrel.

People in this thread who don't know who Kampfeld Customs is are just showing their ignorance. I can assure you I live in an area with near as many machinists and one of the better gunsmithing schools in the country. There are only a few (3) people I let touch my guns, and really only one. The rest of the fudds are an absolute no go, and surprisingly also charge double or more what my guys do.
I'm also willing to wager you could send your barrel off to Kampfeld, LRI, Bugholes, or a few others and have it back sooner and cheaper even with shipping. Those places I guess are a IYKYK thing, which this may not be the right audience for.

Hahaha omg. This is so clearly a bold faced LIE!!!! Anyone with a lathe can cut threads didn't you know!! I hear it's the first thing any machinist learns, no way anyone could've messing it up. You're wrong and confused!

ZOMG!!!!!!
Only a single specific person in all of the us that lives in a mountain town and has a name I like to throw around is capable of cutting threatds on a barrel. Absolutely nobody - NOBODY - anywhere else in all ofthe land has such skills as to perform such a feat of machining!
This thread is the epitome of what the OB has become.

Not at all what I said. Your hyperbole is embarrassing and a low IQ attempt at a reply.
Because of the type of shooting I do and the time I put into it I have a very high expectations from gunsmiths. Especially when there are several affordable and easy to work with options that are known for consistently putting out very high quality work. Why would I not use them and recommend them?
If you're ok with some slack jaw yokel with a lathe who may or may not pay attention to run out, then absolutely have at it. I'm sure it won't affect you gut shooting a whitetail from a blind at 75 yards.
