Huge brush piles west side of the airstrip, and trucks hauling brush, looks like mainly cedar and mesquite from property on the east side of elm creek south of 29. Looks like they have a chipper running at the collection site. Also saw a truck being loaded just west of the collection site on the south side of 190.

Wondering if there is a right of way being cleared or is this a range improvement project by a new property owner. This has to be a several 7 figure operation based on the amount of equipment and the number of people working on it.

I would bet debris clean up from the flash flood they had back in mid-November. Our deer lease is just south of Menard and they got 11" of rain in 24 hours two days before my son and I went hunting.

FEMA clean-up on both the San Saba and Llano Rivers due to the July 4 rains.San Saba actually flooded again. Some creeks that flow into the rivers are also included in the operation. The clean-up has been ongoing since late summer.

There is a lot of green cedar in the brush piles so some of it was live less than 2 months ago.

They're clearing a lot more than the bottoms. FEMA is paying for it.

They're doing it on our place. Its insane the amount of clearing they've done. Certainly not going to complain it's transformed the access along the river.

It's great these agencies are available now for assistance to landowners etc along the rivers to help clean up.
I was born and raised on our homestead on the Guadalupe River. Went through some damaging floods over those 40 years….nobody did didly to ever help us, or other landowners back then to clean up or repair anything. It was all up to us.

FEMA clearing brush. They've been hauling it to landfills in Junction and Mason where they grind it into mulch and haul it somewhere else. Guess Menard is getting some too. I would hate to see the budget. Seems like this would cause erosion in the next big storm.

Erosion possibly. They are mainly doing this to get rid of trees that are destroying the water supply

Yep, FEMA clean up contractors. They did our place and several of our neighbors out near London. While they are cleaning up debris, they are also clearing the creek beds of trees that have the potential to become debris during a flood event. While we were thankful for the free clean up help, I will say they were more than a little liberal in what they removed. I would suspect this is driven by $$....I'm sure they get paid by the load or even tonnage removed. The guys that worked our area were from Maryland....nice guys.
