Great video besides the guy filming. If he wasn't going to help I would hope he would at least keep his mouth shut.

At a minimum, he had a pulse. All the CPR did was give the deer a weird story to tell his friends around the feeder

Not a story I usually share. No video(before cell phones with cameras), but my daughters will confirm if necessary.

Back when I was teaching Ag, my oldest came of age to show in the livestock show (8 years).

I bought her a goat from a local breeder and we brought it home. I started showing her how the goat should be walked and stand when being showed. This was difficult for her as the goat outweighed her and exerted it's will constantly. So I started her off with a dog choker chain so she could use that to convince the goat she was actually in charge. It took a few days, but the goat finally got better. One of the ways we would get the goat used to the choker was to snap it to a fence with very little slack so the goat had to stand and could not lay down.

I told my daughter to NEVER leave the goat snapped to the fence unless she was right there with it.

Well, you guessed it. Two days later it was a hot September day and she snapped to the fence and came to the house to get something to drink. I asked her where the goat was. She said she left it snapped to the fence. I fussed at her and told her to get out there and tend to the goat.

About two minutes later she come running back to the house crying and saying the goat was dead. I go out there and the goat is not breathing and its eyes were rolled back into its head. I get the goat unsnapped and lay it on the ground and did mouth to nose just like the guy in the video. After a couple of breaths, he coughed and started breathing again.

She went on to win first in her class and division runner up with that goat.

She learned a few lessons that day. I find it interesting how much animals and caring for and about them can teach us.

ETA: It was only a $125 goat but at the time with 3 girls, a house mortgage, truck payment and life, I wasn't gonna let that goat die. Not to mention the trauma on the 8 & 6 year old girls.

Good on the guys for making the effort to get that Buck out of a bad spot.

I've had to blow into the mouth and nose of a newborn puppy that wasn't breathing to try to revive it.

I have done that on a couple of exotics when darting for capture. In the old days we used Sucostrin which was a neurological paralytic drug that was commonly used for darting animals. Sometimes it would cause them to stop breathing and you had no choice if you didn't want to lose an expensive animal
After a couple of times doing that I got a dog
BVM ( some call it an Ambu-bag) from our vet. We also started carrying a portable medical oxygen bottle to facilitate getting them more O2.
Axis were notorious for doing that after darting. We always made the best effort possible because if I killed an animal while capturing the cost of the animal was on me sometimes.

I worked for a veterinarian when I was in high school. A client brought in a dog who was having a lot of trouble birthing puppies.

As he was getting the puppies out he hands one to me that was not breathing. "Give it mouth to mouth" he says. I'm thinking you've got to be kidding me. Of course I do it. That little puppy starts to breathe. It was an awesome moment for a 16 year old.

Same thing here.

You basically put most of their head in your mouth and don't breath too hard.

This. I used to know a dude like that, Everything was funny to him. Annoying as hell.

Side note on the deer, lifting his hind legs helps a lot. We do this in Jiu Jitsu when someone gets choked out. It helps with blood flow to the brain. That deer had been hanging a while and was probably not much longer for this world. Good dude that saved him.
