Buddy "won" (silent auction) hunt with Rojo Pointers Outfitters at dinner auction. We've set dates with them July 30--Aug 3 for 2 days of perdiz hunting and 2 days dove shooting with 4 of us going. Stay is at their Siriri Lodge in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Travel provided by outfitter (to/from airport), gun rental and hunting license are around $1350 per person. With the food & lodging covered by the voucher what other expenses would OB expect?

Shells are "market rate", gratuity . . . trying to figure total $s we should budget/expect?

If meals are provided, you may not get the option - but if you get the chance to try the surubi (a South American catfish), it has been some of my most favorite meals of my life.

Bird boy tip approx $150-175
Lodge staff tips approx $100 each
Tip for driver/from airport $25-30 each way
Shells (I went to cordoba in 2024 and it was $20/box of 25)

Your license and gun rental in the OP seems a bit steep. Is that what the outfitter quoted you?

Yes sir on outfitter costs:
round trip airport $495 (approx 2 hr trip)
gun rental $115 per day
hunting license fee $395

we'll save some money on shells shooting doves 2 days…. Perdiz has daily limit.

Never done Argentine dove hunt, lot of friends say it's bucket list trip…

Maybe the $495 airport shuttle service is group rate and not per person? I haven't had opportunity to speak directly with outfitter as buddy has been point person

Airfare is a killer at the moment. Hopefully prices moderate. Going in July.

I have a group trip on the books in 2027 and am looking at Boliva this year for a just single quick hunt for myself and am pretty current on prices.

I tell people to budget high, so they are prepared for it and hopefully its under, but I would plan on a $1 a shell.

I believe your airport transfer fee should be for the group, $495 a person is robbery. The license and gun rental fee seem about right.

Those tips might be a little low, but that is a personal item. If you/group are a little older, maybe not in the best of shape, you'd be surprised on how sore/tight your shoulders can get and a massage (a real one, not happy ending one) might be something you add on, so plan extra cash for that.

But yea, post COVID the airfare is stupid. Depending on your flight options, you might have to change airports in BA and that can involve an uber and then most likely a hotel as well, so add a few more $100 to the budget.

Argentina is the greatest! We went last year and are going again this year. Your trip is cheaper than ours.

The men shot at least 600 shells a day at dove. The limit on perdiz is 10 so you won't shoot much on those days. We tipped our bird boys $50 a day and the hunt master guy $200 for the trip and we tipped our host too and the other staff. Maybe $1,000 in tips for a 6 day hunt. Shoot a 28 gauge if that's an option. My wife shot a 410. We wore shooting pads on our shoulders.

First class airfare this May is $10,000 a person.

You are going to love it!

Timely thread. Roughly a year ago, I purchased a trip at an auction where let's say I may have had a few too many lites. It is with pointer as well. Trying to finalize dates. My issue is that it is a four night four hunter trip and not getting many takers to fill the two remaining spots.

Pfff. You fly commercial?!? Ugh, I hope I don't have to hunt the same fields as you guttersnipes.

The voucher we "won" allows a 3 year window to use it. You can also pay a fee to extend that window as well.

I had a buddy "win" an African safari trip back in 20? We had planned trip but I couldn't/wouldn't go because travel required covid vaccine. We're planning on trying that again next year '27. They went and really enjoyed the experience.

YES, it can be tough to fill those type spots/hunts on short notice!

If you are at bar down there talking to locals and call the Falklands the Malvinas (the Argentine name), you won't pay for a beer all night. They are still a little bitter about all that.
