Any recommendations for a breeder for a combo duck dog / family dog?

We would like a dog that can do both. Not so docile that she won't retrieve but not so high strung that she makes a terrible pet.

I've had labs for most of my life and am a pretty decent trainer. I would probably train the basics myself and then send her to "college" for all her finishing.

I've already been recommended Watermark Retrievers in Houston. We are in the DFW area but could go as far as Houston for a good dog. (I don't want to go to Wisconsin or anything crazy.)

Any recommendations appreciated!

I can't help you out with a chocolate but my lab whelped a litter on 7 Jan. 6 black (3 male, 3 female) and 1 yellow (male) that will be ready to take home in early March. Sire and dam are both AKC registered so let me know if you can't find a chocolate and want to explore other options.

Our pair will make brown ones but not sure that another litter is on our agenda but the first one really wasn't on it either so we will see!

I was looking for a picture from 2021 today and stumbled across some pictures of the hole in the Sheetrock our youngest lab ate. I still remember leading a conference call and wondering what noise I was hearing outside my office only to find my lab that was apparently bored and needed something to do.

Another recommendation to reach out to AgVet. Our Yellow lab 'pup' is now 8 months old…and this dog has far exceeded our expectations.
