You might have ended up here like me.

It started with an AR15.
Then came the Eotech sight.
Then came the suppressor.
Then came the thermal scope.

Many firearms later, a new gun doesn't satisfy the scratch, so you buy the chest rig so you can shoot and reload fast like the cool kids.

but then come the lvl 4 plates
then the ballistic helmet

So what now? Has to be NVGs right?

I have no idea what to look for except FOM over 2000 and resolution at or over 76.

I am not going to drop more than 4 figures on a unit. I wish I could purchase the quads without a thought to my hopeful and eventual retirement, but I don't think I could do it with a clean conscience.

I will be using the NVGs for hog hunting (stalking or driving), star gazing, and hopefully not for protection of property in massive civil unrest.

I like the idea of goggles over monocular, with one rifle with a IR laser meant for truck duty and the other with a thermal scope if stationary.

Thanks in advance.

I may not be much help as my interests kind of lead me in the opposite direction but PVS 14 and PEQ 15 was what I used. Trained to sit injun style, back against a tree with a rifle in my lap. Could engage targets pretty far out with that set up. But I'm sure there is better technology available today.

I dunno. I think I'd let my hunting lease in Afghanistan expire and try to find something local.

I'm on the NVG autism spectrum.

For the specs and price you mentioned binos are doable. I'd recommend manual gain Elbit SLH or PH in a DTNVS MG, or ARNVG MG housing. Nocturn industries molded housings might be an option too.

Personally, if the mission is mainly hunting, a pvs14 will serve you better. Lighter, still manual gain, gives you the option of dual banding with thermal monocular later on. L3 24LM is easily in the budget too.

Minimum specs I usually recommend:

Photocathode response : 2000+
Halo: less than 1
EBI: Milspec is 2.5 so anything under that is good. Under 1 is great
SNR: 30+
LPMM: 72+

If you're local to BCS I'd be happy to demo some head mounted solutions.
