So I'm pretty deep in the archery rabbit hole currently. I want to make a tape out past 100, so I started looking at Precision Cut Archery to make the tapes. Basically a ballistic calc for archery equipment.

There's several ways to go about making the tapes: using launch speeds + draw board measurements, launch speed + 2 manual marks, etc.

This is where my interest really got piqued… one of the methods uses downrange speed. Basically you shoot through chrono at 0 and 60 yds, input those speeds, and it spits out a tape. Seems like most accurate way possible, as it removes all of the human error.

Really tempted to try this, was wondering if any of yall had experience with this program and could speak to its accuracy/ease of use.

FWIW, I'd be using a garmin, not labradar

curious, what sight will you be using with the sight tape?

Dialed Pruf, which kind of complicates things if I understand correctly.

One of the measurements is peep to pin… the dialed pruf vertical rail is angled, so the pin housing moves closer to bow as you roll down, giving extra distance. But that makes peep to pin dynamic. Waiting on an email from PCA.

Ordered a garmin last night, but would use it regardless of if I use PCA

That looks interesting.... man archery equipment has come a long way since I got out of the game.
Good luck with it! I think I'm not going to be much help to you, as I haven't been involved in competitive target archery in a long time LOL!

Yeah I'm excited. Typically shoot my tape in manually and mark every 10 yds 20-100. Takes forever and your marks are only as accurate as you are. The fact that once you have bow measurements this should be super quick, and removing the human from the equation other than measured inputs is very appealing as I chase accuracy at distance

I use it. It's a little tricky to get exactly right. I've tried all their methods to get an exact tape. It took a while but I got it where I wanted it.

It's nice to be able to print one for the elevation you will hunt at. I used to have guess and re sight or turn my limb bolts out to get the tape to be accurate.
It's critical for hunting 11000ft or above and is noticeable at 9000 for me.

I want to know how good it is without the use of a $600 down range chrono?

For normal hunting it's not much benefit over a factory sight tape. Long range 3d targets it can be helpful. Or if you are shooting an arrow that's not standard setup. Like a really heavy arrow or a light arrow with fletchings that has a lot of drag (5 degree helical).

With out the chrono you have to be very precise with your measurements. And take several long rage shots to verify the correct pin

You use the downrange method? Is it pretty straightforward once you've done it a time or 2?

I did all the methods. The down range with the garmin was by far the easiest and best. I didn't have the garmin when I used it last year. I was using a cheaper Caldwell chrono. I think that was the problem.
It worked perfectly with my UV slider sight. I set it up behind a target at 60 yards. If you want to really test yourself on pressure shots just set it up on a tripod and shoot over it. I went for the safer approach.

Also I got the paper they suggest to print on. I was worried about the ink smearing but it held up perfectly, even after getting poured on for two days in Arizona.

Just did the downrange method today. Did the quick start initially and it was dead on out to 70.

Also, this is super cool… you can plot arrow performance and export to compare arrows. I was looking to see which would have less drift

The "ballistic calculator" they have on the app is pretty cool too. I would only use it for extreme up or down hill shots if I had a bedded animal if I had time. It's more accurate than a range finder can be for longer shots.

I had very little trouble with the downrange method… put a bag target in front of chrono with chrono abt a foot away and 4" lower than top of bag and aimed abt 6" down from top of bag target…. It captured every arrow. Will be even easier when I get my bowbars shield plate I think
