I saw this little reel about a Scottish gun nut who convinced Ian flemig to up the caliber of Bond's sidearm. Sadly he couldn't talk Cmdr Fleming into going all Dirty Harry for 007.

What's really crazy is that even though they made the PPK basically continuously from 1931 until 2025, Walther never cashed in on the 007 hype with a factory threaded barrel until 2024.

Before then, if you wanted a suppressed PPK to larp as your favorite British spy you had to send it off to a smith to get it extended/threaded or a new barrel installed.

Then they ceased production completely of all of them, threaded or not last year. Hopefully they bring it back soon.

If your only experience shooting a PP or PPK is one of the .380 variants, or even worse one of the knock offs like a Bersa in .380, I think most people would think very poorly of how the gun shoots.

But if you ever get the chance to shoot one in its proper .32 ACP chambering, especially a suppressed one, its a much more pleasant experience.

As for practical.....well, nothing about Bond was ever practical. That wasn't really the point, was it?
