Any recommendations on wide snake boots to also accommodate a high instep? Tried wide redhead pair at bass pro and it was really hard to put on and take off. Not going to work.

I wear a 4E width and took a pair of Justin snake boots to a repair shop and had them stretched. Fit well now.

Typically wide snakes and narrow snakes bite the same. Any snakes boots should work for both

I wear the wide from Chippewa and as much as I hate square toed boots these boots have that and I think it makes them wider.

Just bought a pair of Danner snake boots from Scheels with full length zipper and they are available in D and EE widths. Comfortable too.

Cutter 17" Snake Boot | Chippewa Boots

get these. I have super high insteps and the zipper in back makes it very easy to put on these boots. They are very wide as well. best boots I have - I wear them sun-up to sun-down when in South Texas.

This. What is the reasoning behind wanting specific snake boots when you could just wear your well broken in leather boots along with chaps?

I have chapettes or polanos, I've heard them called both, that I wear sometimes that are snake proof, but I've seen how a fang can just lay open leather and low on the boot. They as likely to strike your shoe as and leggings.

Same for me. The only truly comfortable snake boot for me are the Danner lace ups.
Chippewa's and other brand zips up were all too tight on my calf.

I have a pair of snake chaps that I just never really liked. Probably what most people have bought at academy. I got the danner sharptails a few years ago and they are very comfortable. I looked at the listo chaps posted and they look like they'd be more comfortable.

interesting. Will put these on list when my current boots wear out.

And FWIW , snake boots for me required trying on many different brands to find the fit I needed - many of the ones I tried just didn't feel right for all the walking I do. I wouldn't buy a pair without trying them on going forward - ended up with Irish setters. And I haven't struggled to find other types of boots that fit right

These are great. I keep a couple pairs at our place so guests can use them regardless of what footwear they have.

ETA Listo is founded and owned by a couple of outstanding Aggies. Some Lyssy and Eckel stores carry the brush cruisers.

Would you mind getting an upper circumference off them and what size yours are? They show SM&L online but don't give any info on what that means.

I can't measure mine because I live in Virginia and won't be back Texas for another month or two but I'll find out for you.

Does this help? Mine are all large I believe since that was the only size they made when I ordered them. I'll will say they are comfortable enough that having them a bit tall doesn't bother me a bit. They aren't super stiff feeling like traditional snake boots, but they don't slouch either. I'm average build 6', and my wife whose 5'8 has also worn them and been comfortable.

Another vote for Danner, here. I have their San Angelo (no zip or laces) and they are one of the most comfortable pair of boots I own.

This is what I have. I have massive calves and they are tight but do fit over jeans. And they are super comfortable
