At 70, I'm not quite as nimble as I once was. The Jeinimeni River was extremely difficult walking and wading because of the rocks. I would have been toast if I hadn't taken my Riverstick Wading Staff. They are better than others sold and they'll customize them for your height. https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?threads/riverstick-custom-wading-staffs.433/

Second, the husband on one of the managers at Cinco Rios represents an knife maker in Argentina and his knives are displayed at the lodge. I broke down and bought a facon. It's sharp as hell. Here's a couple of pics.

And finally, the Chilean guides I fished with at Estancia del Zorro, Cinco Rios and at the Jeinimeni River were all excellent.

Boat racing is like a beautiful woman.......expensive, high maintenance, but well worth the fun!

That looked like a wonderful experience. A couple questions:

What was the Ahi you brought back?

What camera did you bring down there? I noticed that Peak Design capture clip on your waders.

The Chileans and Argentines make some beautiful knives and sheathes. I've seen some videos lately of the terrific rawhide braided knife handles and sheathes.

That Gaucho culture down there is interesting to read about.

Aji is a hot sauce they put on everything. You can get it on Amazon. Good flavor.

I took a DJO Osmo Action 5

When we were in Buenos Aires last year we brought home a set of steak knives with braided rawhide handles.

I thought that was the same ahi. I'm in Bolivia and ahi and locoto are the two main chilis here. There are others up higher in the Ande's though. There is a native chili here called aribibi (not sure about the spelling) It looks a lot like a chili pequine/chiltepin and grows prolifically. It's just as hot, but is lacking in flavor.

Much of the country in your photos could pass for eastern Oregon, except for those fantastic rivers you fished.
