Howdy, Brand new truck, three weeks old, went out to go to church, truck will not start??? Trying not to panic that I have stepped into a Black Hole! What is y'alls recommendation for hand held battery jump starter? Thanks!!!

I can't remember the brand I bought off the top of my head, but I can give you one piece of advice and that is to check how long the leads are. Some of those have ridiculously short leads.

I've had good luck with noco and an older version of this one that's also sold as duralast at Autozone. I like that it has a built in wireless charger. I have a couple.

I have these in both our cars and have been happy with them. They are on a lightning deal at Amazon right now for $99.

Hulkman Alpha 85

Noco also gets good reviews for theirs.

First one I got was a no name from Amazon. Used it once and it worked great. Next time I tried to use it, it didn't work and wouldn't charge. Ended up buying a noco gb40. Used it twice on other people's vehicles and it still takes a charge.

Another vote for Noco. They are great.

OneFYI tip, they don't come w a charging brick to go into your outlet. Make sure you get one that will carry enough voltage to charge the pack quickly. And a good USB C charging cable. It will change your charge time for the back up power bank from multi hours to an hour or so.

I have a Halo that I bought off of Amazon. I generally use it to run my laptop and charge my phone during surveillance. But it does have jumper cables. They're short like someone mentioned above but they're long enough to get the job done. I used it on my suburban a couple times. I even let a guy I was surveilling use it once to start his car. Covertly of course.

I've enjoyed his videos. One of his early tests with jump starters is why I bought this one off Amazon. Had one about 3yr and bought the same one again last year to replace an older one in wife's truck that won't hold charge.

I keep a Powrun P-ONE in my truck. It's a 2500 diesel and it'll start it. My dad says he's seen it start a D8 Cat. Holds a charge for a long time.

I got the #2 one from his very first video on them. The thing has stood the test of time. It's started tractors and cars and had a 6 month time where I used it daily due to an electrical issue. I always check his reviews now.

Not too exciting. Watching the guy because he was involved in a wreck with my clients 18 wheeler. His attorney said he was all messed up, hard to walk, can't stand up for very long, can't drive, unable to work. Day 1 on the surveillance this dude came out around 730am and I could tell he was headed to work. Then his truck wouldn't start. Being the nice guy I am I ran up on him with my jump pack. He was thankful enough that he offered me some $$ (which I turned down) and he told me where he worked. When he left I followed him at a distance then rolled a few hours of video of him framing a house. We got a lot of video of that dude over the next few weeks. I guess his attorney dropped the suit after it went to a deposition and my clients attorney busted out the old TV on wheels

I've heard they don't work well or at all on diesel engines. Makes sense.

They come in various capacities. My NOCO (not sure on size) works great on my 7.3L and 6.0L PSDs.

Cactus is right. When you purchase it will give you a size range for the engine it will work on. The one that works on my 3.5L ecoboost isn't going to be the same model that works on a 7.3L diesel. They do make them though.
