Guys, I purchased a SA Hellcat OSP the other day and I was wanting to mount an optic on the gun. I probably don't need it, but I probably didn't need the gun, either. At any rate, what would you recommend for this particular weapon and what all will I need to mount it? I've seen some comments about mounting plates may be needed, etc. At any rate, what would you recommend? Thanks.

I've always liked the trijicon RMR - looks like you can remove the optics cover plate and then the RMR should just screw down (using right torque specs and blue loctite). Optics will usually come with different mounting plates in case hole positions are different etc.

If you want a closed emitter- aimpoint acro is legit as well

I don't have an optic recommendation - but will just say congrats on the purchase I LOVE my Hellcat. Fantastic little gun.

My Hellcat came with a WASP red dot in the box but not installed. I think they're made specifically for Hellcat. Maybe not. I like it. First battery lasted a little over 2 years.

Osight has many options which have proven to be very good quality for a great price.

I have been using the Osight S for well over a year without any issues at all.
It is the rechargeable model, and the charge lasts months. It then recharges in a few hours.
S-model is enclosed emitter, rechargeable, with multiple reticles.

Conventional battery options are also available from Osight. Red or Green, and multiple reticle options.

For a Springfield Hellcat, the Osight includes the required mounting screws. No adapter plates or anything. Mine was factory zeroed with almost no adjustment necessary, and no movement of the sight after over a year of carrying and shooting.

The Wasp is a really nice optic if you can find one. The He'll cat osp has an RMSc footprint cut on the slide. Make sure before you buy a dot it fits this footprint and try to stay away from adapter plates. I put a Crimson trace RAD green dot on mine and it has been fine. I don't really recommend a CT though. The first two I had flaked out after a few shots, but they do have excellent customer service. They kept sending new ones until I finally got a good one.
Also, if you mount one use blue loctite on the screw threads.

Second Osight. I've got a SE (enclosed) dot on both my M&P shield and Bodyguard 2.0. Surprised at how nice these "budget" optics are.

Swampfox and Vector also make good budget options if you don't want to drop serious coin on a dot

I picked up a Holsun green dot and could not be happier with the value to performance ratio.
