I have a good friend from Canada that I work with that is now a US citizen. His brother still lives in British Columbia but is about to move to the Yucatan in Mexico. He has a sizable gun collection, including some high-end 1911s, Garands, etc. He is willing to gift the guns to my buddy since he can't take them to Mexico with him and resale in Canada is very difficult. My buddy offered me the pick of the litter if I can help him get the guns here to Texas. I have no experience importing firearms, so I'm hoping to get some advice, or a contact to facilitate this process. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you need an FFL and an ATF Form 6. Plus 4-6 weeks of waiting, and probably a few revisions since it's the ATF and something is always not right.

It also looks like you need to find a licensed importer to do that actual import across the border.

This is yet another reason why you cannot hate the government enough.

Load'em up on a sail boat and sail them down to the US coast.
