I just bought a lifetime fishing pass from Texas parks and wildlife for my son's 17th birthday a couple of weeks ago. The process was super easy and done right on the spot at the local game office. It comes with all the tags and good for salt and fresh.

He has used it about 7 times in two weeks since his birthday and takes his 16 year old buddies with him. He loves fishing but when he got that pass he goes a lot more often.

I figured the cost breakdown over the years will pay for itself unlike me who it's more economical to buy year after year at this point. It will also provide him a lifetime of memories from something he likes doing.

I don't have any pictures yet of what he has caught as it's in the local lakes and ponds but I will soon.

If y'all are thinking of doing it just do it.

ETA: the other thing is that I guarantee you there is less screen time from phone, tablet or television.

My dad bought it for me when I was around 12! I wanna say it was the final year of being under $1,000. Best birthday gift I've ever gotten.

My mom apparently didn't see the value in it, she asked him "what if he doesn't end up liking hunting & fishing?"
My dad's response was "His name is Hunter he has no choice."

Dad was right….

Dad bought me a Texas Lifetime Hunting and Fishing license when I was 20 or so. Also lifetime membership to the NRA.

Bought our a daughter Texas Lifetime and Fishing license before she changed her address to Oklahoma.....then bought her an Oklahoma Lifetime Hunting and Fishing license. Also a lifetime membership to the NRA.

She is a very proud and accomplished sportswoman.

I bought for both my kids when they were teens and just bought one for my oldest grandson for 6th birthday. Yea a little younger than necessary but no idea how long I'll last so I'll be getting one for each of them soon.
