I just bought a lifetime fishing pass from Texas parks and wildlife for my son's 17th birthday a couple of weeks ago. The process was super easy and done right on the spot at the local game office. It comes with all the tags and good for salt and fresh.
He has used it about 7 times in two weeks since his birthday and takes his 16 year old buddies with him. He loves fishing but when he got that pass he goes a lot more often.
I figured the cost breakdown over the years will pay for itself unlike me who it's more economical to buy year after year at this point. It will also provide him a lifetime of memories from something he likes doing.
I don't have any pictures yet of what he has caught as it's in the local lakes and ponds but I will soon.
If y'all are thinking of doing it just do it.
ETA: the other thing is that I guarantee you there is less screen time from phone, tablet or television.
