Just had about 150-200 acres of my place involved in a grass fire (luckily, just some mild fence damage, so not a horrible thing). This part of the ranch had already been sprayed for cactus (very effective) 4 years ago. Mainly just grass, mesquite, and yucca. About 60 acres is a CRP field that was sprayed with Invora, for Mesquite, 3 years ago (had about a 90-95% kill, so the fire did an excellent job of clearing the dead timber).
The Yucca had all its "leaves" burned off, but obviously, it's still likely to come back. Lots of 1-2 foot tall Yucca "trunks" are visible. I've killed plenty of normal/healthy Yucca by spraying a few cc's of Triclopyr/diesel in the center/whorl (per BrushBuster recommendations).
With the grass all gone, and the trunks easily visible, is there any other "suggestions" for killing the Yucca?? Or will a few cc's of the Triclopyr/diesel still do the trick?? Didn't know how well it would be absorbed, just spraying the top of the bare burned "trunk"???
(Also, with some fence involved, I found this study from OSU regarding damage (really, LACK of damage) to barbwire fence, from fire)…
