Fascinating article about FIFA putting grass in domes here in the US. They are essentially putting down plastic over turf and then layers of sand, soil and sod. I believe we will get to grass in all the domes once the technology gets a little better.

At the conclusion of the USA v. Paraguay match the other night, did you see when both teams ran to their respective sidelines for CapriSuns and orange slices?

Just Google the new bernabeau, it legitimately retracts and grows the grass underground below the stadium.

People like Jerry Jones will fight it. He likes turf. He argues that the safety aspect of real grass is ambiguous but I suspect that turf makes it easier for him to have large events like concerts without worrying about screwing up the field surface. Considering how stubborn he has been about the giant glass wall facing West, I can't imagine he gives up the fight about turf easily either.

I agree. The Miami grass farm was interesting to me. A football field is only 1.3 acres. Have a 40 acre grass farm nearby and you always have multiple fields ready to go. Plan all of your events to allow for replacement time if necessary. It's not like these teams don't have the money. Grass just looks so much better.
