Hey y'all!

My names Austin and I'm a former student at TAMU. My wife (also a former student) and I still live here. I'm a small business owner and a documentary filmmaker.

We were recently talking about the homeless lady we frequently see around town who dresses in all white and pushes a shopping cart full of white linens. I've recently come to find out that her name is Jackie, and she moved here with her son a couple years back. I've had the opportunity to meet her a couple times, but never received any verbal response from her.

I'm looking to tell her story via a documentary style film. If she's willing, the idea of the film is to increase knowledge and awareness of the homeless and why they're homeless, and to financially benefit her and her son. I would premier the film for a weekend or two with all proceeds going to them.

All of this to say, does anyone know any bits and pieces of her story? Does anyone know if she still lives here in college station?

I've seen her around and used to see her on the roads almost all the time. Hanging out near St. Mary's (10/30/14), around Longmire (1/31/17), visiting Subway (2015), but I've been driving around College Station for the last few years and have seen nothing.

You know the specific dates from 5+ years ago? Are you stalking her? Perhaps we should all mind our own business unless she requests help herself.

Not post related but thread related. The acceptable abbreviation to utter for College Station is "CS" lol. "Cstat" is some fairly recent abomination that has gained unfounded momentum. CS has been the deal since I've lived here (since 1979). For anyone taking this too serious, I'm halfway joking…..halfway

My main goal was to just give them an opportunity to have their story told and potentially earn cash from the shooting and the selling of the film. Like I said, "if she was willing."

But it sounds like she hasn't been seen in awhile so who knows

I don't see any interest in a documentary. The woman was very private. She would not/could not speak. Did I say that she was very private? I can think of a dozen more locals that would have a contribution to your effort.

As far as the lady in white, I understand that her son does all the talking for her. I'm guessing that he must have a job or is otherwise occupied which is why you don't see her around as much.

As a member of A&M United Methodist church, I was quite accustomed to seeing her around the church sidewalks. I know our ministers approached her and her son seeking to assist them. They were unable to get enough back story to accomplish anything. I recall that they had family not too far away. Perhaps they have returned to their family. I have not seen either in over a year.
Somebody has to lose. Might as well be t.u.

If that day meant something to me and she was a small part of it somehow, then yes, I will remember certain dates.

The point is it's been several years since the last sighting, and certainly a full year. You sure she's not dead?

Is this one of those documentaries that YouTubers do to make themselves look good? You know, find a homeless person and give them money, clothes, food and record it to show how great they are?

Not at all! My team, nor me would make any appearance in the film. It wouldn't be about us, but specifically about them.

The only time you'd see anything referencing myself or my team would be in the end credits.

OP, she is a scam artist that makes a lot of money off of the good people of this area. She can speak just like anyone else but uses that and the outfit as a hook. She will even be coy and pretend not to want your money. She, and a few others around BCS, makes a good amount of money off of the good, benevolent folks of this area. She likes Northgate because the students are very free with their money and are naive to her ways.

I saw her maybe a month or two ago near Shipleys/Arby's. So absolutely not a full year.

I've tried to buy her food and drink before at Starbucks. She doesn't speak. And doesn't trust most men from what the Starbucks employees told me.

A friend said people at her church tried to help this lady but she was very reluctant to accept help.

Sounds a bit different than your conspiracy theory of "she just pretends to be mute and homeless and scams everyone by wearing king size sheets in august while pushing around a cart full of other sheets."

But ok.

I gave her a $20 unsolicited a couple of years ago by Northgate. She said thank you IIRC and that was it. Haven't spotted her in awhile. If what you say is true then that outfit as a hook look must be so miserable when it's 103 degrees outside.

The story that I always heard was that her son was a student and that she had taken a vow of silence, but was not mute and will sometimes speak to order things. Also heard she was some kind of doctor or something before said vow and sheet wearing began.

I haven't seen her in a while but ever since the pandemic I feel I go to cs less and stay more in Bryan.

I once saw her inside Jimmy John's quietly eating a sandwich to get out of the rain probably 2 years ago. So she finds a way to communicate when she needs to. I doubt she's the kind of person that would want to be the star of a documentary.

She and her son seem like nice enough people. I see them every single day. I live very close to where they live.

I have never heard her say a single word in all the times I've seen her. Her son will say hello every so often. They are both very quiet and tend to stick themselves. I have seen her pulling her cart around at all times of the day. One of the wheels on her cart is very, very worn out. I have thought about offering to replace it, but as others have said, I don't know if she would even accept it. She does seem to care about birds. I have seen her leave bits and pieces for the bird to eat quite often.

I don't know where she goes when she takes her cart of sheets and what not and I am not going to follow her because that's intrusive and weird.

does anyone know the story, or, anything about the guy who lives under the University/Hwy 6 bridge? He stands on the SE corner of the intersection with a sign that reads "Clothes food or cash" or something to that effect in the afternoons.

I had heard a story that a landscaper stop and offered him a job, even offering to come pick him up every day and he declined.

I always wondered if he was on the lam or something he seems clean and tidy

Piggy backing on this thread to ask about George, the guy who was always walking around B/CS but later on a bike, who was sometimes wearing a dress with a helmet and other times in dress marines. I havent seen in in a long time.
