You might also want to have student assessed for dyscalculia. Simply described as a processing disorder similar to dyslexia though associated with math. Some of the brightest mathematic minds are hamstrung with this disorder and drift away from math due to lack of success in the typical grading systems.

I could do the tutoring, but it'd have to be Zoom, as I am in TN. I'm a former Ms/HS math teacher - now work in a math dept at a university.
