Hypothetically, if someone had dashcam video of a black Denali running multiple red lights in College Station, and they were to email them to CSPD, would they do anything with them?

I would contact them. If the video is good and the plate is readable, they may actually talk to the registered vehicle owner about their poor choices.textar4404 said:

My dash cam videoed a street race on Texas Ave that had both cars, both plates, and one driver's face. They pursued charges on the driver who was identifiable.
Generally speaking, an officer has to witness a misdemeanor to issue a citation for it. There are a bunch of exceptions, but that's the original intent. Hopefully they would determine the schedule and sit at the light (as opposed to another light) or contact the individual, or both.
It would never stand a chance in court.
Now, if an accident was recorded, it would be a different story.
The black Denali could have been undercover po-po's. You never know.

I'll just say had they waited less than 30 seconds at each light, they would have been green, and then they would get slowed down by another vehicle until they get around them.
I'd send it in anyway and send to people who post that on social media

Not sure when people blatantly stopped regarding traffic laws but it's bad. Driving today is like driving in a 3rd world county.. no laws just do as you please.
2 nights ago about 9pm..while making a left onto Fitch from lakeway Dr across from Lowe's. Car in front of me turned and I was following .. small black sports car headed eastbound on Fitch blew thru the intersection missing my truck by about 2 feet. Split me and the car in front of me
Never even slowed down , didn't even tap the breaks.

My favorite lately happened about 11:30am Saturday headed down University near Century Square. There was a funeral procession slowly heading east. We were headed west and stopped at the light two rows back. When the light turned green, I commented to my wife how impressed I was that nobody moved out of respect for the procession. Not 15 seconds later, I bright yellow Ram TRX pulls up beside us and starts honking at the car in front that's stopped at the light. Morons.

If you are crossing Fitch while driving on Barron at those 2 intersections, don't forget to look both ways. Twice in the last month I have seen vehicles driving the wrong way on Fitch.

I have so much distrust in other drivers that I look both ways at traffic circles.
if you call the cops, they will probably find a way to go after you instead of the people in the video.
Maybe the driver was rushing to the emergency room because his wife was having a heart attack.
Unless the drive caused a problem, I wouldn't go out of my way to attempt to punish him.

Not too many years ago, there was a poster on here advocating treating stop signs as yield signs. He claimed it was a waste of time and gas to stop. He posted enough specifics as to his location that I hoped some LEO, lurking here, would monitor his intersections and nail him.
Did he come anywhere close to being a danger to someone? If not, turning him in is pretty dumb. Some people break laws because they're smarter than the average person the law was made to protect.
If he was reckless, he is the opposite of the aforementioned and I would send to rusty and the cops.

Maybe it wasn't a big deal at all. I'm still wondering if this person's actions came anywhere close to putting someone in danger. Did he blaze through the lights without looking? Or was there no one else on the road but OP and this person. Context matters. I've seen people fly through stop signs and stop lights at busy times. They should be locked up. I've seen people run red lights because they sat there for 10 seconds and can clearly see there is a 0% chance of cross traffic. They should be left alone. I'm surprised at how many people have opinions with very little context.

Running stop signs and red lights is illegal and a big deal. Even if there is no cross traffic, stopping for stop signs and red lights is a good habit to get into. Yes, stop even if you know no one is coming.cstat07 said:
