Howdy! I'm looking for some information and history on the Greenleaf Medical Center that was off of what is now William D Fitch and Highway 6. I'm a student worker for AgriLife and work in the building, and another student worker and I are curious about the general history of the building, and when it was converted over to office space. We haven't been able to find a whole lot of information except for an older forum post from 2012. Any pictures of the building or an old College Station map would be fantastic. Any information is appreciated!
Thanks!

The company that renovated and moved into that building was CIC Corp. I believe it was 1992-3 when we moved in. CIC was a medical equipment insurance company and was very successful while it was around, but unfortunately ended up going out of business.

Many of us are still very close and will tell you it was a great place to work while it lasted. Very much a work hard / play hard atmosphere.

If you have any questions, ask away.

Was that the one that Ron Crozier headed up for awhile?

It split into two companies at the end. I went with the half that moved out of the building to another location, and Ron Crozier was never with us, but maybe he was with the other half that stayed.

So I've heard that they had a couple of padded rooms in the building. Do you know by chance where they were? Also, were there two pools, like an indoor and outdoor, or just the outdoor one? I thought someone at said at one time the large conference room was an indoor pool but I could be wrong.
Also, do you know when the last part of the company moved out and who came in after?
Sorry for so many questions, just curious

Ron Crozier left KBTX to work for the Twin City Mission. He's still there.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

There was only the outdoor pool.

The "padded" rooms were not actually padded, but they were plain high ceilinged rooms with secure doors. We used them for file rooms. They were in the back hallway on the north side, near the center hallway as I recall.

I think the building sat empty for a few years until the system bought it - I don't recall any other private companies being in there during that time, but maybe they just didn't have signage up.

As far as timing, they were probably in there until the mid 90's sometime but I really don't remember since I was with the "other half".

No problem on the questions, ask away.

I'm pretty sure he left KBTX to work for a mental health/substance abuse outfit in the area the OP mentioned. Then to TCM.

Very cool, thank you!
Out of curiosity, did y'all ever have issues with the A/C unit going out all the time?

Does anyone know why Greenleaf closed their doors? Did they move somewhere else?

I appreciate everyone's responses!

Didn't they have a big soccer field out back?

Not really in back but south east of the building.
Of course its a neighborhood now. The half of the ownership group that was psycho soccer invested is the one that move away from that location.

They were there until the early 2000s. I still have a few pieces of equipment from there that have y2kok stickers on them.
The end of time was as green valley technology.

Was that the Sandstone Center circa 1990? I know someone who worked there back then. Good stories.

Since we are doing the history of Ron Crozier. I bought my first Nokia cell phone from him in the early 90's when he was working for Houston Cellular on Briarcrest and 29th.

Just checked satellite view and the soccer field can still be seen. It runs up against Agate Drive.

What happened to the pool? Is it still there? Maybe filled in in one of the little courtyard areas?

The pool was in front surrounded by wall. Gym to right of main entrance and pool just west of it and windows from dining area overlooking. Kitchen was on west side of dining room.
Not easy to see on google maps, but switching to earth you can see the pool is still there but empty. The images from earth are slightly older but the outline visible in the 2025 images in maps.

That plot is just a small fraction of one end of the field. When the split happened the reel mower, sod cutter and grounds keeping staff was optimized.

Ah, I see it now. The pool looks to have been covered or filled in. Otherwise you'd see standing water. The outline is still visible though, yes. @rwb26, can you confirm the current status of the pool area?

The ac units back then were package units with a central boiler. They were totally changed out after R&S sold to a&m. The central chiller was added to where the dumpster was previously and the west parking was added.

If you take and put the camera west of the pool and at a 45 degree down angle you can still see the walls of the pool. So in 2022 not filled in.

Yes, the pool has been filled in. It's just a concrete pad now.

TEES used to own the building in the 2000-2012 timeframe +/- a few years.
The HVAC was always a problem. I do not remember any padded rooms, but a running joke was the server room was where they did electroshock.
There used to be tons of deer out there.

This reminded me of a magnet we have on an old cabinet. Think I got it in a swag bag somewhere. Long ago :-P
