Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe General (ret.) Wesley Clark, and former Under Secretary of Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya will be here at Texas A&M for MSC Wiley's Main Program!

MSC Wiley Lecture Series's "Defending Democracy: Resisting the Autocratic Wave" aims to discuss the U.S.'s evolving role in supporting democracy around the world. Dean of the Bush School John Sherman '92 will moderate the lecture.

Given Wes Clark's reputation, having him on a panel about resisting autocracy is a bit ironic.

Edit to add: for those of y'all who aren't familiar with the US Army of the 80s and 90s, during my Army career I've been acquainted with several officers who served on staffs with or under Wes Clark. His nickname, especially among staff officers working for him, was the "Prince of Darkness."

Not a fun guy to work for. One might even say he had an autocratic leadership style.

The event was well attended.

Panel did a great job. With this topic and two dems/libs on the panel, the elephant in the room was the
left's mantra about Trump being an autocratic wanna be and threat to democracy. That line was never crossed.

McCarthy is a sharp cookie.
The problem with people that don't get it is they don't get that they don't get it.
