I've been an HEB or Costco guy since moving here. Wondering if there are better alternatives? Readfield? Rosenthal? Tenderloin, Ribeye, NY Strip....

Stone Cold was an awesome addition to our area in Cypress when I was living there.FlyRod said:
Readfields or the farmers market.
Occasionally a drive down to Stone Cold Meats.

Preservatives in fresh meat? I don't believe that is true.
You'll need to substantiate the claim that HEB fresh packed steaks have preservatives.

It's not a preservative, but I'm pretty sure they do treat them with carbon monoxide. At least the prepackaged ones.
Perfect. I'd heard less than great things about Ruffino since the change.trouble said:
It was just Ruffino Meats. They still own Readfields.
They keep specialty cuts in the back. You have to ask for them.cypress-ag said:
All of the Readfield replies will make me go back, first and last time in was disappointing. Im spoiled with Stonecold in Cypress and tend to grab them when I'm in the area. It beats anything in this market.
With a great shipping program and always on time to my front door. Ground beef and all cuts we have tried have been excellent.Aggie@state.gov said:

There's Lone Star Meats in Austin, and then there's everyone else.
