I found some REALLY old threads about this, but nothing current. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cardiologist here in town (preferably in the BSW system)? Both of my grandfathers died in their 50's of heart attacks and I'm getting up there now. No real symptoms for me other than being short of breath a lot, but I want to be careful because of my family history.
Would this require a preventative cardiologist?

I go to Doc Le at S/W and have for many years. I feel he does a great job. I am with BSW A&M insurance.

About 10 years ago I was short of breath and had angina when I had to walk a long time such as walking up to the third level of Kyle field. After tests I was found to have a little blockage in an artery. No need for stints or anything. He prescribed a low dose of Isosorbide mononitrate and after taking it daily I walk anywhere without an issue.

I am not sure if he is in network with BSW (he is for BCBS), but I use Rocky Bilhartz at BCS Heart. I have been going to him for the last 10 years since I was diagnosed with A-Fib. He and his staff are awesome and very thorough.

Also, I will give a referral for an electrophysiologist if you need one.

Dr. Ramesh Hariharan is top-notch. He is based out of Cypress but comes to BCS monthly and has an office in the same building as BCS Heart. I recently had cardiac ablation for my A-Fib and he was the surgeon. He is very thorough, listens to his patients and is a leader in the field when it comes to his specialty.

Dr. Bilhartz is great, I use him currently. Have seen Dr. Le in the past--and he is very nice--but I'm not a fan of the BSW system. YMMV.

I have been going to Dr. Miller at BCS Heart for too long. He and his nurse are top notch.

I've seen Miller and Wigley. No issues with either. Started with Wigley and switched to Miller since his office is closer to my home. The last episode was on a Saturday, and ended up at SJ Bryan since the cath lab in CS isn't open on the weekends. Had to switch docs due to that and the fact that Miller doesn't go to Bryan. Now I see Gutierrez. He's a nice guy.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm in the market as I'm not comfortable with a doc who performs a sub-five-minute exam, slaps another prescription your way and says see you in six months.

Dr. Gutierrez is in the same office as Wigley. Both are really good.

And if you ever need open-heart surgery, Dr. Charles Smith is a rock star. Did open-heart surgery on a cousin of mine 25 years ago, and did it on my wife last year. Cousin had 5 bypasses. Wife had a small fibroma with calcification below the mitral valve that had likely been there since childhood. He handled both situations like a champ.
