Customer service is horrible. Does anyone have a StarLink where fiber is available? We have one in the middle of nowhere and it works very well.

My arrive is much faster then my starlink and does not use carrier grade nat. They both have their place and in general have no issues with either.

Do you have a particular speed you are running? I am at 200 mbps and don't have any issue.....other than the price.

My fiber is fast. However something went down on Thursday and I've been waiting on them to come out ever since. They keep saying they are coming at 2...and then the next day at 2....and now today at 2. They don't even let me know when they aren't coming.

Have you reset your modem? Anyone else in your neighborhood having an issue?

That would drive me crazy as I run my business from home.

Most of the BCS internet dies every Thursday and comes back Monday during the school year. During the summer, it sucks 24x7 but sometimes the mornings are ok because idiots have been up all night gaming.

Yeah. It's not the modem. So I'm on day 3 now...they are 1 1/2 hours late today....but they swear they are coming.......

Well, make sure you report back with what the issue was.

Tech showed up and fixed it. He thought a gopher had messed up the fiber.

That's a pretty broad brush you are painting with.
What you're describing is when ISPs oversubscribe their backhaul capacity and it becomes overloaded during peak time.

We upgrade equipment when it hits 80% capacity to prevent this problem. It cuts into the profit margin, that's for sure, but it makes the service run MUCH better.

For those of you on Arrive (formerly CEO): if you are in a HOA that forces you to take their internet, get your HOA to change upstream providers when the contract is up. I can assure you that Brazos WiFi will be less expensive and customer service will be better (if you need us).

Nothing wrong with CGNAT if it's implemented properly. I sold it for years.

I lived through the transition of arpanet from ncp to tcp/ip so know a few things about networking. Cgnat is fine until you want to run a local server, or have some applications that opens both a tcp and udp path to the host and the box providing CGNAT decides to mung the source addresses to different originating host ip's is lots of fun.
It great until its not, if all you are doing is browsing its bearable, doing anything advanced just be ready for the issues to show up.
I understand ip4 exhaustion drives it and why i run v6 where i can.

That's exactly what's driven it, and why IPv4 is still viable today.

Sounds like he had to run a new line a 100 feet or so and connect.

That would make more sense considering the short run

We have had an outage in West Bryan since Wednesday. Was supposed to be fixed today, but that looks increasingly unlikely.

Good chance we are done with them after this.

Is Starlink viable here in BCS?

Plenty viable. I'm out in Peach Crossing and run Starlink as failover for Brazos WiFi, but several folks in the subdivision run it as their primary ISP

I live in town and use Verizon as my backup, but if I lived out of town, I'd use Starlink.
