CSISD Parents and Guardians,

College Station ISD is proposing adjustments to attendance boundaries for elementary, intermediate, and middle school campuses to help balance enrollment and ensure equitable learning environments for all students. Proposed adjustments would go into effect for the 2026-2027 school year.

We're at the beginning of this process and are sharing initial resources along with feedback forms for your input. The first round of community input will be open through July 7.

LOL. We need to juggle the low performers….

Didn't everybody raise hell about this last time? Is this like the bond stuff? Keep going back until you get what you want?

Proposed Plan 1 has an interesting gerrymandering. Neighborhood currently in College Hills area would be assigned to Pebble Creek.

The middle school zoning is terrible. Lot's of people driving all the way across town.

Is there a better map somewhere? My kids are zoned to one of the schools that is estimated to be over capacity and we live like 1 street over from being zoned to a different school.

It's been like that for 10 years or more. It used to be worse.

The current middle school zoning is already that way. And neither option presented offer a solution to that particular problem. It is ridiculous.

It's almost as if a primary goal of the zoning is to maximize the average distance students must travel.

While the proposed intermediate/middle school rezoning won't make those distance issues better, I also don't see it making them much worse. For example, both scenarios move Castlegate I, and one also moves Nantucket, from Pecan Trail/Wellborn to Cypress Grove/CSMS. That's pretty much a wash in terms of time and distance for either neighborhood.

The middle grades proposals also don't make much of a dent in socioeconomic differences as compared with the status quo (Plan 4 does a little more than Plan 3--but again without doing much if any additional harm in terms of travel times). This seems to be more about balancing overall numbers than SES numbers.

"This seems to be more about balancing overall numbers than SES numbers."

That seems pretty accurate and it looks like its been about 8 years since the last rezoning. College Station has changed quite a bit since then with Southern Point, Mission Ranch, etc.

And traffic has gotten much worse in the last 10 years. At some point, cross town schooling just doesn't make sense. Not a fan of making kids sit on buses for excessive amounts of time, just to satisfy the admins agendas.

Yep, let's drive thousands of unnecessary extra miles over the years just so my kid can go Oakwood, AMCMS and Consol, while several OTHER schools are much more closer. Have to even out those STARR testing scores! Can't have any ****ty school right?

This is the way.

It's all about the government money…….. they do not care about people traveling across town to a school when a school is right across the street

They say this to make it sound good:

balance enrollment and ensure equitable learning environments for all students

But really they are making Johnny manziel money signs and begging from the federal govt.
I collect ticket stubs! looking for a 1944 orange bowl ticket stub and Aggie vs tu stubs - 1926 and below, 1935-1937, 1939-1944, 1946-1948, 1950, 1953, 1956-1957, 1959, 1960, 1963-1966, 1969-1970, 1973, 1974, 1980, 1984, 1990, 2004, 2008 also looking for vs Villanova 1949

But it always has been. I'm the furthest from Oakwood/AMCMS, but that's where we were. Same with HS.

BUT I am not complaining. It actually worked out very well since I work at the University, 2 schools were a mile from my office, and the HS is sort of on the way. I would rather this over CSHS.

(I am not saying I agree or disagree with this)

One of the things mentioned on FB was that it may benefit the lower socioeconomic to have to go further for school as they then have a bus to ride. It was said that in extreme weather, many times the students either stay home, or they are walking to/from school in adverse conditions (when they live too close for the bus)

Does the district get reimbursed per student/mile travel on buses?

People have been doing this for decades.

There were very few changes to the current maps. 4 has more changes than 3 for all levels being considered.

I'm stating that it's been bad, and there is no interest to do anything about it. I have to drive two kids to two different campuses across town from each other. It shouldn't take me an hour and 10 minutes from the time I leave until the time I get back to take my kids to school every morning in this size town.

You have kids in Peach creek subdivision going to Oakwood Middle School? That's a 14 mile ride,

I had to do a similar drive. I understand. The east side of 6 will never be going to intermediate/middle schools in south CS until a new school is built in the south.

2026-2027 Boundary Adjustments - College Station Independent School District

I emailed CSISD asking for a better map and this is the response I received
Quote:

Hi *****,

Updated maps are in development and the online input window is being extended through the month of July to allow more time for families to review the plans. The district will update the website and inform the community when updated resources are available. We apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused initially. If you'd like to ask any specific questions related to your address or child's school, feel free to call me at 979-764-5477.

Thank you,

Austin Dunson
Director of Communications
College Station ISD
The website - CSISD 2026-2027 Boundary Adjustments - has also been updated to show online community input until JULY 31, 2025.

I am not impacted by the district changes, living on the north side of town close to Bryan, but isn't balancing student populations critical to a lot more than just student funding, but also just retaining control of the school district itself? If any individual campus gets F ratings for five years in a row, Texas can come in and take over the school district.

Add onto that that students from lower income households often perform worse on average than kids than higher-income households, and yeah, in a town where most of the low-income students live on one side. Like I am not surprised to see how much bits of neighborhoods close to College Hills are sent to other schools as its lower income. Even with all that, College Hills Elementary received F ratings on all categories - student achievement, school progress and 'closing the gaps' on the most recenty released STAAR tests, and so a takeover can be initiated if that continues for another four years.

Ding, Ding, Ding. Winner, winner chicken dinner. If they just had the stones to lead with a hard-hitting statement like this, it could save so much time.

That's a solution for a small percentage of the population.
