The College Station Police Department (CSPD) alerted the crash just after 2:15 p.m., calling it a "major crash" at the intersection of Holleman Drive and Texas Avenue- near HEB and Hancock Whitney Bank.

This is the 2nd accident in the last three weeks at this intersection. Is there website where we can check the number and location of traffic accidents in CoCS? I would be interested to see how Texas Ave and Holleman compares to other intersections.

I would guess that intersection is in top 5 if not the top one. It's got holleman at an angle to Texas so those turning right onto Texas on a red rom Holleman have a tough time looking back left down the hill and also need to watch for cars turning left from other side of Texas.

Then because of medians you have people wanting to Uturn on Texas in both directions.

Then of course people are in a hurry and hate to wait so they will run a red light if it just changed.

It's a horrible intersection.

small fixes might be: no uturns. No turn right on red from Holleman to Texas south.

But the big problem is flashing yellow left turn from south to Holleman

Then those going north on Texas and want to turn left have a tough time see cars coming up the hill on yellow/flashing yellow.

I would vote Wellborn and Rock Prairie as number 1. Same issue of people turning on the blinking yellow when it isn't clear.

None of those situations should create an accident if drivers would take their time and make sure the street is clear. I have driven about a million and a half miles in my life and been in two wrecks. One was when a Taco truck ran a redlight and I swerve to the right to avoid hitting him broadside and hit a concrete culvert and the other one was a guy in a large pickup blasted me from behind while I was stopped at the light at Univ/Texas Ave intersection,

People, unless you are hurrying to the hospital with a severely injured or sick person, there really is no hurry to risk severe injury or death to save a couple of minutes of time to get to your destination,

Good luck with this. No one obey these in town, especially the students. Can't count the times no one has obeyed the ones where Holleman meets 2818, for example. Coming off of Holleman, and turning right onto 2818, they stop like it's a regular intersection and then proceed, even though there is two big "No Turn On Red" signs posted. Same with the other side as well, by Poche's

I 100% agree with slowing down and taking a couple of extra minutes But the way life is nowadays, no one has the time to give….actualky feels like they can't spare the extra 2 min for whatever reason. Everyone is just rush rush rush, and most people it's because of their job and/or if they have kids, there are 100 things on their schedules to get to.

If you enjoy chaos:
Bring back the traffic circle at university and South College
or the stop sign at University west exit to Wellborn road along with the mirror at the top of the hill to see traffic that was incoming to wipe you out if you pulled out
But at least back then most people tried to be attentive to their surroundings, but today we have plenty of distractions and lack of care to go around.
There are plenty of places that U-Turns are "required" but I just make the 3 right turns to avoid them even if its a few miles out of the way.

I believe those signs are for the left and center lanes to prevent those vehicles from crossing the traffic coming from the left. There is an island separating the far right lane, and no sign preventing a right on red.

I would be curious to know how many cars making U-turns from south- to north-bound on Texas are coming out of the HEB shopping center

I would say most accidents happen at this intersection are U-turn related. A right turn on Holleman (north bound) and a U turner on Texas (north bound) do not have a clear line of sight. FYI there should not be a U turn (south or north) on Texas @ Holleman, the intersection is on a hill.

This intersection has been problematic since long before medians.

Yesterday's crash had nothing to do with u-turns or medians.

He didn't say that. He said most.

From what I've witnessed at that intersection, I would think that is accurate.
