We have to head up to Frisco this weekend - have never been there, so I was wondering if there was a better than the others route. Ye Olde Apple Mappe offers 2 options over to 45 and up, and then the 6 to Waco and up 35 way. Thoughts? Thanks!

A lot depends but most of frisco would be best from 35. Real question is do you have a toll tag and want to use it in the north toll way. And ditch Apple maps and see what wayz an google say

Friday afternoon or Saturday?

6 to 35 to DNT is an option, or 21 to Normangee to 45 to DNT is an option (or through Madisonville for a longer trip but Buc-ee's stop). They are pretty equivalent with the 35 route being more scenic but also having more traffic on a Saturday potentially. If you like a Buc-ee's stop more halfway or are traveling with kids you prefer the 35 route since there's more areas to stop. I travel weekly for work and take the 45 route.

Enjoy Frisco, it's a pretty busy area but lots of shopping and dining like much of Dallas.

35 is usually faster. I've done that trip many times in one day. Waze usually will give you a good idea.

35 to DNT is best. I did this today. Stay in the right lane on 35 once you pass the 45 exit in front of downtown. The reason is you need to still love over two lane to the right for DNT due to a merge. It's a short merge.

I grew up in Plano and go back frequently. I'd never think to choose 35 over 45. But it's probably pretty equal. I'd take 45 to RL Thornton to NDT unless it was peak rush hour every time. Do not take 45 to 35 to NDT.

Most likely Saturday morning - and no kids. Thanks!

I did the I35 route through Denton last Saturday and it was pretty smooth. Just the typical heavy traffic on I 35 until you get past Hillsborough.

I make the drive to d/fw, and north, all of the time.
I take 35 almost every time. It's much better than 45.

I've been making this trip for 30 years. While 35 was under constant construction, 45 was always the answer. Whether you went 21, OSR or 14 was never more than 5 minutes difference.
Now that 35 is basically finished, we drive 35 mainly because stopping in West/Waco has more options than Ennis/Corsicana.
Time difference is negligible whichever way you choose.

As another poster said, when you get near downtown, stay right for the exit to the DNT.

Should be a pretty easy drive up tomorrow. I drive this route almost daily and on a Saturday morning, you should have no issue with traffic. Even if you forget to get all the way over, you should be fine but it will help.
