Capital one sent me a notification that my internet bill went up this month. I logged into MyFrontier and they added a $10 multiple device security charge. No email about this, no authorization to add it, they just slipped it in hoping I wouldn't notice.

I would wager that I'm not the only person they added this fee to so check your bill unless you enjoy burning $120 a year for "security" from your ISP.

Part of the reason we ditched AT&T. They kept slipping in charges every month and we had to call and get them to drop them.

They really do hope you won't notice.

This is why we don't do auto-pay on practically any bill.

This happened to me about a year ago, but it was $6, and it was due to the expiration of a promotion that was covering the cost of the multi-device internet security feature I never wanted or used in the first place.

Not needed unless you are not careful. I think you can have them remove it. For parents it will allow you to manage your childern's usage (at least at home).

Almost 2 months ago our internet got spotty for a couple of days then went out. I called the service number and got Kim, a dude, somewhere in India. Three times I asked for a service technician to come out and 3 times dude told me the only way I could get one was to sign up for the Wi-Fi Security and Whole-Home Wi-Fi special they were offering for free for 2 months. I finally gave in and said ok.
Next day a real American technician showed up and spent an hour walking down the highway R-O-W, cleaning the terminals on the old Frontier risers.
Problem solved. Except the next week I got the package from Frontier. Never opened it but when I realized it was nearing the 2 month deadline, I called them back and got another guy from India who said he would remove it and send me a label for return. He never did believe me that the first guy would hold my internet hostage until I agreed to his terms.
Returned it immediately and got an email that verified that I would not be charged for that service.
Sent it thru the UPS store at Rock Prairie but that is another story.

Yep, we recently discovered the fee and had it removed.

Switched to Frontier last February. I just checked my bills since the switch and I see a $5 Wi-Fi Security monthly charge. Is this similar to the $10 multi-device security fee y'all are seeing or in addition to it?

Ours was the $10 one but sounds like the $5 one isn't worth having, either.

I called the customer retention department yesterday because I knew our special offer of $34.99 per month was about to run out.

I was hoping to continue at that rate, but the nice lady I got said "Let me see what I can do for you, I think I can get it lower."

When all was said and done, she got my bill down to $19.99 per month for the next 12 months. Took about 10-15 minutes of my time, but it was well worth it.

Same thing here, I called and got it reduced. A bit of a hassle but worth a bit over $100/year for 3 years.

Same thing happened to me. Was out 10 or 11 dqys recently, and they would not answer my call attempts to report a problem. Finally called a friend at the city and he gave me a number to a supervisor at Frontier. She got somebody out that got me hooked up, but cable lay on top of the ground for 3 weeks until I started calling the technician for help getting it buried. While Frontier was burying the cable I ran into my neighbor who told me about how he and another guy up the road had switched from Frontier to T mobile as they have a tower close enough. Frontier went on the blink again yesterday so that was enough. They have been too high for quite a while on my dsl plus ignoring my calls was too much. I went to Tmobile yesterday and got set up for less than half of what I was paying.

I do autopay on most everything but I do get a text and an email on every transaction over $10 so I notice any changes in any service bill.

I did get a notice yesterday that my CS Utility average billing will be going up $10 a month due to increase costs,

Thanks for this KidDoc. My bill had mysteriously gone up $15. $10 for something called Homeshield Elite and $5 for wi-fi security. I called and got the charges removed from my bill.
