I have a lot of fishing equipment (rods, reels, artificial baits, storage cases, etc.) I don't use. Are there any local kid's groups that accept donations?

One of my friends volunteers with an organization that teaches kids to fish here in BCS. I'll contact him. Edit: this is him below me.

I volunteer through TPWD teaching fishing here in B/CS as well. We only use spincast (push button) reels in the class but do show them the other types of reels as well. We might be able to use some of the other stuff to show them what they might need. Let me know if the first responder does not want everything and I'll see what you have left.

Not exactly what you are looking for probably, but my son would love a good bait caster if you have one. He's 10 and loves fishing, but he hasn't had luck finding a decent bait caster yet.

Not to hijack the thread at all, but I would be really interested in learning how to volunteer like this! Have any info on where to start?

It's really easy to become an instructor. All you have to do is attend one of the free training sessions to get certififed to teach the course. Once certified you can teach the course by yourself, or other volunteers will reach out when they have a class and need additional help. It's a volunteer gig, but TPWD gets some funding back into thier education program for any/all hours you put in.
Here's a list of upcoming training sessions:

I found a bait caster with rod. Let me know if you want it.
