HEB and Walmart, for weeks (or months): $2.45-2.47 / gallon, while all other outlets ( a couple of exceptions) remain at $2.79-2.89.
I know, I know, "it's a college town"....but even during the summer, and also stations a lonnng way from CS center, the $ 0.35-45 per gallon pricing seems "fixed"...
Gas Buddy shows pricing elsewhere in TX at $2.10 to 2.35.

In general, the closer you get to the University, the higher the price.

It is also a convivence factor. The circle K at H6 and rock prairie is always 2 to 4 cents higher than the one on 29th street.

I paid $2.52 at the Exxon on the corner of WJB and Hwy 6 a couple days ago. I noticed that the Mobil and TXB near the Bryan Post Office were the same price.

Dunno what Kroger is charging, but they may have prices effecting nearby outlets.

Costco with their credit card is the way to go.

West Texas produces all the oil, has a refinery in big spring, and pays substantially more than we do here. I'm sure there's plenty of good reasons but that's always seemed wrong to me.

This has always been the case, or as far back as I can remember.

Just like Sam's, you pay, to pay 2.39 at Costco....and their location is impractical, for many B-CS and area shoppers.
Just bought gas today, at the CS Walmart, $2.45/gal.. I cannot discern any difference in performance, versus buying Exxon gas.

I buy plenty of other stuff from them that the membership makes no difference. Worth it for me. I get better mileage with exxon or Costco versus HEB/ walmart gas. Takes several tanks to see that though for my vehicle. Dont buy every time at one of those depending where I Am at.

I could be wrong but it seems inflation and CPI adjusted isn't it remarkably cheap af any of those prices? I've been paying for gas since 1986 and it just seems like it to me.

I mean in the late 2000's wasn't like $4 for a bit??

Totally but in 2010 or whenever it was $4 had way more impactful optics than in 2022. The larger point being that it seems like sub $3 is not worthy of mention be it $2.25 or $2.45

In 20 years, Ive never seen the two stations at Rock Prairie and Wellborn Rd have a different price. I mentioned to the lady working one day and her direct response was- "oh yeah, the owners have an agreement."

In 1970 it was about 30cents a gallon. Of course I only made $1/hour.

Because it could be the same fuel from the same depot and possibly the same additives. When I worked in the East Texas oil field back in college summer days, I watched Exxon, Texaco, Shell trucks and many other branded tanker trucks arrive and fill their trucks up from the same storage tanks. They may have adjusted something to have different additives, but the basis gasoline was the same,

" Yes, major gasoline distributors and stations typically get their fuel from the same location, such as a bulk storage and distribution terminal or pipeline "rack". The primary difference between brands is the proprietary engine performance additives they add to the fuel before delivery, not a different base fuel. "

Also if you go west of South College, all stations will be around $2.89. Has been this way for 15 plus years.

Speaking of the 29th store , every Monday morning the gas will be raised to like 2.79/2.89 and then falls from that morning the rest of the week.
I thought I was crazy at first but they do it pretty consistently.

In the past I was told most of it comes from the one at Hearne from 2 different convenience store owners. Not sure about Walmart,Sam's and Costco.

That station has always been reasonable for as long as I can remember. The university one just likes all the mom and dad's credit cards and charges a location premium

$2.49 yesterday at the 29th Valero/circle K

And just like clockwork $2.99 for the Monday morning buyers

I noticed something similar. The 7-11 near me (Greens Prairie and Arrington Rd) was $2.47 Sunday morning. On Monday afternoon it had increased to $2.59. Is this due to students returning? Holiday weekend coming up? First TAMU football game?

I haven't checked out other prices around town. Wasn't sure if this trend is BCS wide or not.

We get gas at Costco with their credit card, and nothing else. We put everything on that card.

The big rebate in February is nice.

Gas prices are up nationwide. Down compared to one year ago, but up from the last few weeks. There may be a local effect here of course but the things that cause price fluctuations are varied indeed.

Nationwide, Monday is the most expensive day to buy gas and Thursday, the cheapest. I have no idea why, I just read about it.

You know we don't put crude oil in our cars, right. If you want to look at the commodities market, look at unleaded, as that is the one that actually matters.
