Friends like Pebble Creek and I don't believe they are country club members so maybe start there? Call the TAMU rec center too and they likely have leads. Good luck.
PC is not open to the public in fact the tennis membership is fairly pricey

I know Castlegate Park has courts that are open to the public. Don't know about finding other players, though.
Are the CS high schools' courts open to the public? There always seems to be folks using them on the weekends, weeknights, and during the summer. I've always wondered who is paying for the lights to be on when there aren't any school tennis matches scheduled.
The City has 6 brand new courts between Bee Creek Park and Central Park.
Last part is not true. Pickleball has only taken over 1 of the existing 7 courts. They made 4 pickleball courts from that 1 court.
People play at Bryan High all of the time. You might have to provide your own opponent but there's usually folks playing there.

It's been several years since I have played but I never had problems finding a small group to play singles and doubles at Bryan High. Just had to ask.
Rock prairie has courts by the skate park
Pebble Creek has men's and women's clinics Saturday mornings. The men's clinics are pretty full, so if interested I would call the tennis shop (979) 690-0994 or email tennis@pebblecreekcc.com to see if there is an opening and to ask how much it cost.
