I'm trying decide between a Case tractor vs a John Deere tractor and was wondering if anybody had personal experience with both service departments?

United has amazing reviews, but anytime I see that many reviews it makes me skeptical if they're real. ASCO doesn't have enough reviews to know anything. I'll cross post on the OB as well.

Never had anything serviced at United, but their parts department always treated me right. Side note, at some dealerships, not all, you can still get parts for antique JD equipment.

I've never had bad experiences with United Ag and Turf, just expensive ones which is the nature of farm equipment now days.

ASCO on the other hand has been hit or miss over the years but mainly miss. I've been in twice for parts for a little CASE IH tractor I used to own. First time I sat for 20 minutes before anybody came out to help me. The place was abandoned up front. No parts people, no sales people, no receptionist. Completely empty. Finally a parts guy came out and apologized that he was unloading a truck and didn't have anyone to cover the front parts/show room area. Kinda felt bad for him but also, he didn't know enough about the older tractor to help me find the correct parts I was needing. Second time there I had another parts guy help me for the same tractor. Same issue of not being able to help with my parts needs. Just needed a new seat and when I found out the cost of the OEM replacement, they didn't want to help me source and aftermarket seat for less money. I went down to United and they were able to help me order a new aftermarket seat for it for less than half the cost of a CASE seat.

This is great feedback thank you.

Took a 120hp Case tractor, to ASCO/Case for diagnosis, transmission issues. Clearly said keep me posted, as $$ accumulated (diagnosis, not repair).
Repair estimate was over $12k, over $800 billed, to tell me that.. which I disputed, as that was the first feedback given. AND the tractor was only 4 yrs old, low hours (but out of warranty).
Bill was finally reduced by $400, picked up the tractor, traded it in at (then) Coufal-Prater (Deere).
Only one data point, but nothing pleasant.
And as mentioned, United Ag has been easy and responsive to work with ( two Deere tractors) just cringe at the bill...

Go orange or go home. I would not buy anything green until they get off their must have their proprietary tools to do any repair. If its something you need to work the wait until they have a slot in their shop or they can send a tech out is a non starter. Orange not likely as good they were since normangee was assimilated by WC. But find their stuff far more serviceable, parts more available in both official and online channels and it does not have to go to the shop since we can fix almost everything at home.

Why no Kubota? And what size tractor are you going for?

I personally have a JD, but I bought it used and have not needed any dealer service in the time I've owned it.

Minimal personal experience- but united ag and turf has been great. We have a zero turn from them. Less than 2 years old, and the crank shaft sheared off (not the fly wheel- the entire crank shaft). Quick and easy turn around on the warranty work with no headaches. Any time I need a part or maintenence stuff, its quick and easy in the store (and usually around what Id pay elsewhere).

As far as tractors- no personal experience outside of listening to my dad growing up. He won't use anything but John deere (despite being frustrated about the tools needed for repairs) because he says Case just doesn't hold up in west texas continuous farm use (cotton).

I'm looking at a 75 horse and the Kubota is way lighter than the other brands unless you step up into their premium stuff and I don't want to pay that.

Recently bought a 5050E from United Ag & Turf. Professional organization, no BS.

Kubota at that horsepower is a mistake.

I have a big John Deere tractor. I also have an old IH plow. I use both Asco and United for parts. Both local stores are very good. United is a bigger chain and that might help you.

Local Asco focus is construction equipment, not farming. They don't ignore you if you come in for farming stuff, but it isn't their specialty.

I don't know anything about the local equipment price or service.

I also wouldn't over think it. Just get the John Deere.

Skip both. Go to Normangee.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.
