About to hit soup season for me

what are some of your favorites in town?

Prefer no chains although I know that

Olive Garden Pasta ***eoli and Zuppa Toscana's

Panera Bread's Mexican Street Corn Chower

and Chuy's Chicken Tortilla will be eaten

Curious as to anyone's favorites

Cow Talk in Navasota has awesome chicken and dumplings on Thursdays.

yes, it's very good. funny, we order that and steak quesadillas more than the wings.

I've found very few soups I enjoy in this town, outside of Asian restaurants. But if I had to pick a memorable one, the roast poblano soup Peter Madden used to do. That one I sorely miss.

Still a fan of the chicken noodle at CFA

Potato soup at Newks, even though the sizes keep shrinking

My wife is a fan of the chicken tortilla at Wings

Gumbo at Walk-Ons, but sizes keep shrinking there too

Haven't had a good broccoli cheese since Must be Heaven closed

CFA could cut the sodium by at least half on that soup recipe. It's a good soup but man, too much sodium.

Ok, forgot about this one. That El Salvadoran place on Cavitt…Tienda la Union or something makes, or at least made, a very good seafood soup with coconut milk. Little baby octopi in it I recall. Have not been there in quite some time but I remember really enjoying that one.

Texas Roadhouse has pretty good chili. I also like the chili at Outback. It's usually pretty spicy (which I prefer).

This isn't helpful at all but seems like a good time to mourn and remember the French onion soup (and twice baked potatoes) at the Grapevine Bistro.
