CS Gameday shuttles....Are they good?

My gameday parking routine for years has been to drive around the historic district north of Kyle Field, park along a street and walk...sometimes quite a ways depending on time of game. But now, with aging parents who can't make that sometimes half mile hike to the stadium, I'm wondering about shuttle services. I'm coming from south CS.

Is that "Get to the Grid" shuttle from Post Oak Mall good? (Or are there other places I should look into?). How long is the wait before/after the game? How early would I need to get there to be able to get to Kyle Field early enough to get in the stadium for the fly over?

I haven't done the mall. I have done the downtown Bryan one and its been great, and I live in College Station.

The wild card is really how long it would take the bus to get to the mall after the game versus you getting to 6 from downtown. If you are on the Pebble Creek side of things you could even go William J to Booneville to 30 and avoid a ton of traffic.

The bus to downtown Bryan goes under wellborn and up Agronomy/Finfeather right to downtown with minimal stops. Depending on game time get a bite to eat downtown or just buzz home.

There's still a shuttle from the mall?

I know century square has one now but I haven't used it. I like the downtown Bryan one.

Maybe there's no longer a mall shuttle? That would be helpful to know! . Has anybody in S. College Station done the downtown Bryan shuttle? Worth the "long drive" and traffic?

Have used the DTB one many times and it's great. Park in the parking garage for free then jump on the bus. EZPZ lemon squeezee

****ETA****

They run a couple hours pre and post game so you can still make all of the tailgates you want

They dropped the mall shuttle years ago. Mall/store owners probably saw minimal shopping from the shuttle and it filled their parking lot, or some excuse like that.

They talked about moving it to the momentum bank tower, but that didn't work out.

DTB shuttle is good, plus it avoids most of the traffic that the mall would have had to navigate. Comes down finfeather which becomes agronomy and then Olsen, then takes the tunnel under Welborn to the MSC area.

If your parents have a handicapped tag you can park in the Koldus garage and do that short walk.
or there is a handicapped lot with a shuttle bus on F&B road

There will likely not be a military flyover if the government is shutdown on gameday.

There will likely not be a military flyover if the government is shutdown on gameday.

If the flyover is not cancelled, it is usually at the end of the National Anthem, which is approximately 10 minutes before kickoff. So, either be outside the south end of the stadium to watch it approach and fly over, OR be in your seat (and not under an overhang) in time for the SSB.

Exceptions to this are if kickoff is after dark (later in the season) and the flyover would not be visible - in that case they'll usually fly over the Quad a little earlier, usually at stepoff, which is normally 90 minutes before kickoff.

You can keep an eye on this thread for details:

Thanks everybody!

So for y'all who take the DTB shuttle, what time do you get there and get in line to get into your seats in time for the anthem?

The Transit services also have their regular routes running for the games. You don't have to drive all the way to Bryan.

You can go to the Transit website for game day shuttle info: Game Day Bus Route Info.

The map is really neat in that it shows where the buses are on the route so you know how long you will be waiting or if you need to hustle to catch the next one!

The Corps steps off 90 minutes before Kickoff. Fly over is about 10 minutes before kickoff.

You can go to the Association and get some free sausage (and drinks if you register) and there are some vendors and usually a kids area. If you don't have tickets, you can also watch the game on the giant screen inside.

Yeah, but what about parking? You still have to figure out that as they're geared around apartment complexes that restrict you from parking and most side streets are restricted. You can't seem to park anywhere in this town anymore on gameday.

No more post oak mall. My dad loves the downtown Bryan shuttle. I loathe it as it's the principle to go that far out of the way. In previous years, it goes fast but they've advertised it a lot this year to boost Bryan businesses so it's gotten more crowded. I'd do 2 hours bf the game bc if you do one hour, you'll be in a congested line to get into the stadium and i like to be there for flyover.
