Thoughts?

Not surprising I suppose. I have also seen signs against proposed apartments on Thornberry over there by 1179.

I hadn't seen that yet. Those last few houses on Concordia won't be happy, but the only other neighbor will be another apt complex.

I believe the signs on 1179 are in reference to a proposed complex at 1179 and Thornberry, right at the entrance to the Greenbriar neighborhood.

There was a large group of Copperfield residents opposing this at a recent city council meeting - they approved it anyway. $$$$

This is a win-win! More growth on the east side!

It is always satisfying to see the rights of a property owner upheld against people who feel like they can dictate what is done with someone else's property.

This will be good for the new HEB too! Nice steady stream of customers.

Hmmm - interesting. If excessive noise, lighting, trash, traffic and neighborhood disturbance is "done with" someone else's property by a property owner, is that then ok? I don't live in Copperfield and have no dog in this hunt. Just wondering.

No no no. The builder stood there in city council and swore the people living in these apartments will not live here full time. They are rich beyond your imagination and all have memberships at Miramont. They will only stay at the apartment when they come into town to play golf. Of course that also means they eat at the CC.

The last thing they will do is shop for groceries every week.

That was also the reason they gave for why none of the apartments will have kids who will attend elementary at an already overcrowded Sam Houston Elementary.

Ironically enough the members of Miramont coming for the weekend cannot actually get to the CC. The proposed entrance and exit from the apartments to Miramont was removed from the plans.

Ironic.

Is there any reason to expect this? Friend of mine and wife (TAMU folk) are renting an apt in that area. The complex is clean, quiet, genuinely really nice . If this new complex is like that it will be a boon (no pun intended). But I can't tell from those blueprints.

Ok just saw the post above mine. I'll have to get more details on this project. When I saw "multi-family" I didn't assume a bunch of rich people using the complex only on sporadic occasions.

So what would you rather go here? A Car dealership, industry, Walmart? Seriously though, a higher end apartment complex as a buffer next to a major road would probably be desirable vs those, and it is going to develop into something.

Single family housing for....families. Seems like the east side is really going downhill.

Families don't live in apartments? Or is it just the wrong kind of families?

The land value is probably too high being right on a main Street to make sense for all but the most dense single family.
