What are some businesses in the area that seem like they need more competition because it's difficult to get a timely response from them? (Don't say the actual business name, just the category!)

My number one answer would definitely be fence builders.

I think it's more a lack of customer service/business acumen than need for competition.

One would think that just the ~7k guys graduating from TAMU each year would keep both JAB & Mens Wearhouse going strong.

This. It would be nice to have choice between energy providers considering Texas deregulated 24 years ago and we are still stuck in a monopoly.

And the transfers of about $16 million a year of utility receipts annually to the general fund where it can be used for the council's pet projects should be outlawed.

Any monies collected in a utility monopoly should be retained for either utility costs, reserved for future utility expansion, held in a utility account for contingencies, or given back to the citizens.

That should be illegal,

At this rate, make it a train station to IAH. Park, check in, go through security, and ride to their terminal. Otherwise, shut it down, and use the land for future campus expansion.

You would think as fast as Texas is growing, an airlines like Cape Air would look at flights between various cities in Texas, NM and LA, they are in smaller markets,

Easterwood is fine (I know you're sarcastic, but do you really want a rail extension running along Raymond Stotzer?); if "campus expansion" was a big deal they should've moved Easterwood to Riverside Campus 15 years ago and redeveloped Easterwood as the Relish Campus or whatever.

If Rellis campus was at Easterwood location it would increase west side traffic issue near campus tremendously. Where it is at causes a minimum of additional traffic issues,

A nice lunch counter would be good too. Maybe a reliable taxi to take you to off airport parking.

As a fequent flier from CLL, it feels like American Airlines looks at their route loads and says "This one is getting to popular! Cut the number of flights and put them on the smallest plane we have!"

Not to mention the career fairs, job interviews, weddings and so on.

My only guess is that its one of those corporate algorithms versus actually looking at the community.

They are probably not getting an accurate picture of how our real population and household income relates to sales. Men's Warehouse bought Jos A Bank around 10 years ago. They probably have a formula for the number of stores in a given area based on their stats.

COVID killed off a lot of corporate chains here because they were looking at a spreadsheet versus having ever driven down Texas Avenue and seeing all the students going out to eat and shopping

If you really want to be technical it is American Eagle operated by SkyWest. It is an American subcontractor, but American is still only option. You can only book through AA.
