How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hi all, I've worked as an environmental consultant (primarily in Texas) since I graduated from Texas A&M in 1992. I was licensed as a P.G. circa 2001, and as a P.E. in August 2019. I'm currently looking for a new job. Over my career I've specialized in environmental investigation/remediation and permitting/compliance, but have touched on almost every aspect of the field over my 27 years. I live in Austin, and would like to stay here. If you'd like me to send you my resume please PM me or reply to this thread. If you know of anyone that is currently hiring please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Potcake - Thanks for the suggestion. I've had several folks mention the TCEQ to me. I'm just concerned that I'm too old to work there. I turn 50 this year & would probably never be able to get the "full retirement" benefit (which requires 20 years of service). Not that that is the only reason to work there, but it is one of the major perks of working for the state.

I'm 57 so the age thing shouldn't be a big deal. As for retirement, I think you could get vested at 10 years, so you could get a partial annuity once you turn 65. I started at 39, so my rule of 80 is met in a couple of years.

Can you "buy" years? If so, do you know how many you can buy?

Yea, you can but I think it would be costly and you would have to live long enough in retirement to recoup the costs.
