I grew up in Farmers Branch, went to elementary school at Janie Stark, junior high at Vivian Field, and high school at RL Turner. I graduated in '84, but haven't been back in a long time. What's Farmers Branch like now?

New construction has added pockets of really nice houses ($700K-1+ million) and a lot of smaller homes that are overpriced. FB had high prices before the current housing budget. Quite a few smaller houses that were dilapidated have been torn down and replaced with mini-mansions that are oversized for the lots.

Stark and FBE are currently solid/spectacular Elementary schools. Vivian Field just completed a $33 million dollar renovation/overhaul this spring.

The crime rate, especially violent, is pretty low to nonexistent. There has been a big push for turning the downtown area into a modern makertplace. In the last 3-4 years, a new Chipotle, Starbucks, and a lot of modern apartments have gone up on Valley View between Josey and I-35.

FB is largely Hispanic working families and the city is ramping up the red center, library, and aquatic center for the families.

I've worked in Carrollton/Farmer's Branch since 2003, and lived near CFB since 2011. I have a lot of good friends and teacher friends who work at Stark, FBE, VF, and RLT.

Thanks Raptor, glad it is a nice area still. Worried it might have deteriorated.

Lived in a rent house in FB after college from about 07-10. Great place to live at the time, but also haven't been back since.

I live in FB and feel like it's a bit of a well kept secret. Crime is low, nice people, decent food options between nearby Addison and Las Colinas. The location IMO is excellent - compared to many suburbs we're pretty close to downtown Dallas (where I work), and easy access to really anywhere in DFW since you're right there at 635/35.

Carrollton and FB get **** on by just about everyone in the north burbs but I'd highly recommend either. We're in Carrollton but this area feels much more down to earth, yet still middle/upper middle class, compared to NDallas, Southlake, Plano, Allen, etc.

*grew up in Carrollton in the late 80s and 90s, left for A&M, came back and haven't found a good reason to leave
