Will be in town for 2 nights. Any suggestions on a good restaurant for dinner?

What kind of food do you like? Looking for something pricy or casual? Fort Worth's food scene has improved considerably over the last 12 years since I moved here. I have lots of recommendations depending on what you like.

Will hit a bbque place for lunch (maybe Goldee's?).

Maybe one pricey evening and the other more casual? Not so much the steakhouse chains downtown.

Thanks for any help.

For a casual place downtown look at Little Red Wasp. We enjoy it and they have a decent selection of craft beers too.

More Pricey:
Sea Food try Eddie V's Prime Seafood
Lonesome Dove in the Stock Yards is really good. We normally go for at least one birthday or our anniversary each year.
If you like Sushi look into Blue on West 7th. It is normally pretty good.

Breakfast places:
Broken Yolk downtown is good
There are a couple more down south of town. My wife's aunt like the Dusty Biscuit. I cannot vouch for it because we have not eaten there.

There are a ton more places but these are good places that don't get mentioned often that could be good unique dining.

Depending on where you are in Fort Worth, goldees may be well out of the way. And crowded.

I haven't been to Goldees and I've heard the same, that it's super crowded since they were recognized in Texas Monthly. Heim used to be the #1 BBQ place in Fort Worth for sure but they've grown quickly and are hit and miss now, but still pretty good. Panther City BBQ is really good but the seating is all outdoors and obviously it's super hot outside right now. Lots of good new places on South Main that have opened in recent years. Wishbone and Flynt, Coco Shrimp, 4 Sisters Vietnamese and Tre Mogli are good places over there. I've heard Wicked Butcher in downtown is a great steak place but haven't been. As the above poster mentioned, Blue is good for sushi, and Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is a unique, small place that is really, really good. Little Lily is great but they had a fire and are closed for repairs. Any Felipe Armenta restaurant is good too usually. The Tavern, Press Cafe, Pacific Table and Maria's Mexican Kitchen are all his places. Way more options than this but it gives you an idea at least.

If you want to hang out with the movers and shakers of Cowtown some believe there's no better place than Texas de Brazil.

Joe Ts gets a bad rap by lame people that don't know how to have a good time. Joe Ts is a unique experience for people that like to have a good time.

You can have a pretentious meal in any city but there's no other place in this world where you can soak up margaritas and fajitas with 1,000 other people. It's a unique experience.

The best times of my life have been at Joe Ts where I drank so many margs I couldn't see straight and on the way out I cannonballed the pool. I came out of that water with my arms straight up to an entire restaurant celebrating my achievement. Total adrenaline rush.

I have to imagine that's what Johnny felt like beating Bama in 2012.

This is the right take, you go to Joe T's to have a fun night with friends. Not maybe the best for meals if you are in town

My best guess about Joe T's is that it's nostalgic for people from Fort Worth. I am not from here, I am from Houston, a city with considerably better Mexican food. When I moved to Fort Worth in 2010, I went to Joe T's and I thought the food was below average at best. The atmosphere is cool, but if you're in town trying to eat good food that's not where to go. I recently went with some friends who grew up in Fort Worth and gave it another chance. Same result. The food just isn't good.

Unless things have changed, and they might have with thesen100+ days, expect a long line at Goldees. Also it really isn't in Ft. Worth more like Kennedale

You're still doing it wrong. Joe Ts ain't and never has been about the food. It's all about the environment and something unique to Fort Worth.

I grew up in South Texas and lived in Houston most of my life. I learned long ago to stop comparing food to Houston places. Houston will mop up most places from a food standpoint.

When I'm somewhere I want something that's unique and interesting to that place. It makes it more fun than always trying to compare the food to something else.

I agree with you there, there's no comparison. But things have gotten a lot better since I first moved here. A lot more variety and interesting places have opened in recent years.

Was at Panther City BBQ a few weeks ago and they have some indoor seating now. They are building an indoor seating and bar area next to their patio. It isn't all the way finished yet on the outside and some on the inside, so don't expect a killer atmosphere, but you can sit in the AC with a pretty good bar and some TVs as well.

Their BBQ is the best in FW for me right now. Heim is second. Haven't been to Goldee's because it's in pretty far southeast Fort Worth in the middle of nowhere.

Wishbone and Flynt is good for fancy. Little Red Wasp is good as well. The Wicked Butcher downtown is also supposed to be good. I've had drinks there but not their food yet.

And as someone born and raised in FW I appreciate Joe T's for its atmosphere and margs. Their food is average, but that's not why we go.

Good to know about Panther city. I haven't been in a while since it's been so hot.
