Anyone have suggestions for orthopedic surgeons specializing in hands in Plano or nearby?

Wife broke fourth metacarpal in multiple places yesterday. The hand specialists at our first choice in Plano (Plano Orthopedics) could not see her until November. It was really only the first choice because she had been there previously to see a different doctor for frozen shoulder.

We were able to get into Alpha Orthopedics in Frisco this morning (and even see an actual doctor) and they recommended surgery over just putting it in a cast. However, we are not sure on availability of the surgeon (waiting for callback). He did indicate that as long as she has the surgery within the next 2-2.5 weeks, that would be ok.

Thomas Diliberti - Texas hand center (75 and walnut hill)
Megan Wood - medical city
Matthew Nevitt - baylor downtown

Not exactly close to plano, but these are the three I see reccomended most often. Our certified hand therapists see patients primarily from these physicians. Disclaimer - I am a PT, that works closer to downtown so I am not familiar with many plano/frisco MDs

Sorry to hear about this--sounds awful!

Plano Orthopedic, Dr Lund is top notch! Definitely try all angles of existing patient of the practice, etc--he is worth it...

Will keep you in prayers.

Dr. Pat Peters, North Texas Orthopedic. I've been something of a frequent flyer with these guys and they've always been great. Peters fixed my wrist when I broke it and has worked on a few others I know and done great.

As luck would have it, there was an opening with Dr. Lund today and he did not recommend surgery right now. Even though there are multiple fractures, all the pieces are generally in the right place so she is now casted up and we'll get X-rays again in a week to make sure things are healing normally. Fingers crossed!

Well that is an answered prayer for me (not luck IMHO )!

I'm so glad he was able to make time for you. Very conservative and avoids surgery whenever it does not make sense.
