Someone I know had family watching their farm and their house while they were seeking help for depression. Cattle got out and the sheriff decided to call animal cruelty about the farm and then also decided to enter the house. Unsure what warrants were obtained. This person does animal rescue and had a number of animals in the house. They provided extensive vet records to the judge at a hearing but the judge didn't even review them. They now need help challenging the seizure of their animals and the legality of the searches to begin with. They will pay for an attorney but need help finding one that would be willing to assist. Sorry to hear that, Twice. What kind of shape were the cows in--did the Sherriff use that as probable cause to enter the house and everything became self-confirming suspicions from there? Anyhow, I hope they get the representation they need.

To my knowledge they were fine but had slipped out a hole in the fence. They couldn't reach the owner and then assumed everything was abandoned (from what I have been told).

Anyone know what kind of attorney would even handle this?

Sucks. How many cows? Likely not worth the cost of the lawyer. The lawyer we used do defend us against a false claim over a horse was $450/hr.

We got lucky that the judge made the plaintiffs and their lawyer pay our costs.

Oh and it took over a year.
