Live out east in Rockwall. Want to put together a date night/overnight stay for me and the wife.

Recommendations on nice hotels, best place to eat, live music or quality entertainment to make an entire evening out of it?

Thanks!

We stayed at the Kimpton Harper in downtown this past weekend. One of the best hotels we've stayed at. Service was great. Cool hotel. Great amenities. Awesome bar on the 24th floor. Sinclair is supposed to be awesome too.

The Cookery is a super fun, different thing to do. 3 solid hours of cooking little things & drinking. Highly recommend.

Paloma Suerte is a must. Wicked Butcher too. Game Theory is supposed to be a lot of fun.

Thompson's for a cool speakeasy place.

Wife and I were married and stayed in the Ashton our wedding night. It is a nice boutique type place. Heard good things about the Sinclair too.

depends on your vibe: do you want a quiet vibe or live music? upscale dining or sit at the bar? trendy or off the beaten path? i will say the stockyards are way more vibrant than downtown these days, but you've also got magnolia and south main, clearfork, etc.

Downtown is always a safe bet (although it has taken a hit the past few years) but I would look at the Stockyards, if you have not been there since COVID started you will not recognize it.

Stay at the Drover, dinner at Lonesome Dove and then Pat Green at Billy Bobs, there you go!

The Drover is over $1,200/night that weekend. Good luck with that.

Jeez. I looked up Clay Walker on 2/17 (better concert anyways) and Drover rooms are still a grand but only 40K Marriott points, that's a crazy discrepancy but a possibility of you are a Marriott ***** like me and have points to burn.

Wife thought the kids would like this train ride this afternoon..

Even at ages 6, 3, 3 they thought it was spare. Stay away.
