Wow. I went hiking there for a couple of hours a few weeks ago. My childhood home, literally on I-30, backed up to that, and Tandy Hills was my backyard wilderness area. Back then it was just wild. You never knew what you'd find down there. Biker gangs, beer busts, acres and acres where nobody went for years at a time. It was mostly how I'd remembered it. I found an old guard rail that must have pre-dated the turnpike. Wandered off the trail and found an abandoned homeless camp. Got lost, and couldn't get out on Meadowbrook Drive. Wandered all around the back side of broadcast hill. Looks like you can't get there from the street anymore, but we used to bike all around the property at KXAS and WBAP as kids. What an amazing urban green space. Would be so cool to have a house that backed up to it again. Gotta get a trail map and see what all I missed.
