We have a last minute babysitter for NYE and wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations of things to do? We're based over the Lewisville area but willing to travel and maybe stay overnight

Why did they bail on Big D NYE at the AAC a few years back? That was a pretty cool event that had really picked up some steam.

If you want to to downtown Dallas, the Stars play every NYE and you get out around 10:00 PM which is plenty of time to go to your favorite local spot (or get back home) with lots of good hotel options.
Pretty sure that thing went away a couple of years before COVID. Something about the venues couldn't come to an agreement, they looked elsewhere for a spot but couldn't find a venue.aezmvp said:Killed by COVID and a lack of sponsors.double aught said:

They killed it off 3-4 years before covid. I think it was a sponsor/vendor issue

Yeah Big D NYE didn't have enough sponsors, 100% unrelated to covid. Similar to what would have happened to St. Patrick's Parade if Cuban didn't rescue that.
Think I remember something about insurance for such events skyrocketing on account of mass shootings as well. A shame bc the NYE Stars game then Big D NYE was great.
Book a room at a nice hotel in uptown or downtown.
Buy a nice bottle of bubbles and another bottle of red wine
Have dinner or drinks at the bar or restaurant at said hotel, go back upstairs and enjoy the wine and sleeping in.
Do brunch until your kids' nap time, sneak back into the house just as the sitter or grandparent gets them down. Take another nap to smooth the landing.
/parent of a toddler who would do just that given the opportunity

I saw they're doing a big fireworks and drones show at Reunion Tower. For those more familiar with that area, where would be some good places to park and watch that from the ground?
