Anyone live there? Would you recommend as a good place to live for a family with a 4 year old daughter? Schools? Parks?

We currently live in Arlington. I work from home, wife splits time between Arlington and Fort Worth. We want to get into a smaller town with smaller, and hopefully better schools than what Arlington is.

Thanks for any recommendations or thoughts.

All I can contribute is a buddy who used to work for TCEQ spent a lot of time there in testing air quality. The tin foil hat subculture says incidents of brain cancer are super high there due to the cement plants. But if "small town" is what you're after, Midlo ain't it.

I'd look elsewhere.

Yes. Good place to raise a family.

Lot of air quality concerns because of the cement kilns. Otherwise nice town.

There's always the south part of Arlington that goes to Mansfield ISD - much better schools and still in Arlington. But if a smaller town is preferred, there's Burleson too (they have an HEB).

I'm from midlothian but purposefully never went back after A&M. Definitely not a small town anymore. Yes the cement plants are a concern. I hate seeing the solar farm across from Gerdau too.

My wife and I live in Godley. It's growing fast too but nowhere near the size of midlothian. Currently going through lots of growing pains with city staff, police department, and ISD.

Thanks for the replies.

To be clear, I said smaller than Arlington, not necessarily a "small town".

Arlington has ~400k residents, I think Midlothian has ~ 40k.

Check out Sunnyvale. Great school and small town environment.

Grew up here and still live here. Lots of great neighborhoods, just depends on your price range. Twin creeks, Shiloh forest, Longbranch estates, Ovilla parc, Crystal Forest, Waters Edge, and Stonewood ranch are just a few. I would try and get a house in the McClatchey elementary zoned area. Parents are about to sell their house in Longrbanch estates. 4/2/2 on one acre, 2018 build. Lots of new stuff coming to downtown.

Wife is from there. When we moved to the metroplex it was with a caveat that we would never live in midlothian.

A few of my in laws still live down there. The area off ninth is a soulless traffic disaster, and the infrastructure is not keeping up with the influx of residents seeking builder grade housing on postage stamp size lots.

It no longer has any of the perks you get from living in a rural community with metroplex access nor have they done a good job planning for it to be the next Mansfield.

Those of my wife's family that have left all made a killing off their acreage though.

We live technically in Midlothian but south west of town where it is more open. Our kids go to Mountain Peak Elementary and enjoy it. My wife is a former teacher and now a full time volunteer between PTO, church, and other initiatives. As others have said there is a lot of building so it will probably be the next Mansfield in a few years. Friends have been moving to Maypearl and Itasca if they want more open land. No place is perfect but we have enjoyed it and have made many friendships along with our kiddos.
